Position Title: Steel Fixer
Department: Construction / Site Operations
Location: Various Project Sites
Reports To: Site Engineer / Foreman / Construction Manager
1. Position Summary
The Steel Fixer is responsible for cutting, bending, fabricating, and installing steel reinforcement (rebar) for concrete structures in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and safety standards. The role is critical for ensuring structural integrity and accuracy in all reinforced concrete works.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Rebar Cutting, Bending & Fabrication
- Read and interpret structural drawings, rebar schedules, and bar-bending lists (BBL).
- Cut, bend, and shape steel bars and mesh as per project specifications.
- Fabricate rebar cages for foundations, columns, beams, slabs, walls, and other structures.
B. Rebar Installation
- Tie rebar using approved methods (GI wire, mechanical couplers, etc.).
- Position reinforcement bars accurately using spacers, chairs, and supports.
- Ensure correct cover, spacing, lap lengths, and anchorage as per approved drawings.
- Install mesh reinforcement for slabs, pavements, and precast elements.
C. Concrete Preparation & Support
- Assist in preparing for concrete pouring activities.
- Ensure all reinforcement work is inspected and approved before pouring.
- Coordinate with carpenters, masons, and site supervisors for smooth workflow.
D. Quality & Accuracy
- Ensure rebar work meets the required tolerances and structural requirements.
- Report discrepancies, missing details, or site issues to the Site Engineer.
- Make corrections or modifications as instructed.
E. Tools & Equipment
- Use and maintain tools such as rebar cutters, benders, tying tools, pliers, and measuring tapes.
- Operate rebar bending machines safely (manual and automatic).
F. Safety & Compliance
- Strictly follow all site safety rules, permit-to-work procedures, and HSE policies.
- Wear appropriate PPE (gloves, safety shoes, helmet, goggles).
- Ensure safe handling and manual lifting of heavy steel bars.
- Report hazards, unsafe conditions, or incidents immediately to the HSE Officer.
3. Minimum Requirements
Education & Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Steel Fixer in building or civil construction projects.
- Strong experience in rebar cutting, bending, and installation for structural works.
- Experience in infrastructure, bridges, industrial, or high-rise projects is an advantage.
Skills
- Ability to read technical drawings and bar bending schedules.
- Strong understanding of reinforcement requirements and structural detailing.
- High accuracy in measurements and fabrication.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift heavy steel bars and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Comfortable working at heights and in outdoor construction environments.

5. Additional Notes

Pay: AED1,100.00 - AED1,300.00 per month
