Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to oversee the design, planning, and
implementation of ISP infrastructure across the UK. The role involves pole installations,
cabinet setups, network equipment supports, and ensuring all works meet technical,
safety, and regulatory standards. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with
field teams, project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver safe, eƯicient, and
compliant network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, plan, and supervise the installation of telecom poles and supporting
structures for internet network deployment.
Inspect and evaluate existing poles, cabinets, and related infrastructure to ensure
structural integrity and compliance with UK standards.
Develop and oversee installation of outdoor cabinets, ensuring proper alignment,
grounding, and protection from environmental factors.
Conduct site surveys and structural assessments prior to new installations.
Prepare detailed technical drawings, structural calculations, and load assessments
for poles, cabinets, and mounting equipment.
Coordinate with field engineers, project managers, and technicians to ensure timely
and safe installation of ISP infrastructure.
Ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations, Health & Safety legislation, and
telecom industry standards.
Review and approve vendor or contractor proposals for pole and cabinet
installation.
Conduct risk assessments for installation sites, including working near traƯic,
overhead lines, or public areas.
Monitor environmental loads on structures (wind, snow, vibration, temperature) to
ensure long-term safety and stability.
Collaborate with local councils, utility companies, and other stakeholders to obtain
necessary permits and approvals.
5+ Year of experience, preferred ISP Infrastructure Experienced.
Perform failure analysis for damaged or compromised poles and cabinets and
recommend corrective actions.
Support maintenance teams in troubleshooting structural issues with existing
infrastructure.
Monitor project timelines and budgets, ensuring installations are cost-eƯective and
on schedule.
Conduct quality assurance audits on completed installations.
Maintain accurate documentation of designs, inspections, and maintenance
activities.
Stay up-to-date with emerging telecom infrastructure technologies, materials, and
best practices.
Mentor and train junior engineers or field staƯ on structural installation standards
and safety protocols.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related field).
Proven experience in structural design and field supervision, preferably in telecom
or ISP infrastructure projects.
Strong knowledge of pole installation, cabinet mounting, and structural load
analysis.
Familiarity with UK Health & Safety, building codes, and telecom regulations.
Proficient in AutoCAD, structural design software, and MS OƯice.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to conduct field inspections, including working at heights and in outdoor
environments.
Preferred:
Experience with fibre optic network deployment.
Knowledge of underground and aerial cable infrastructure.
Experience liaising with local authorities and utility providers.
