Position Overview

The KU Health Rice Study seeks a highly organized student research assistant to convert print study data sheets into a machine-readable format. The Healthy Rice Study is a diabetes research project that examines how a dietary intervention influences markers of metabolic health over time. Findings will inform practical strategies to reduce diabetes risk in resource-limited settings and contribute to peer-reviewed research. The student research assistant will contribute to the project by preparing study data for analysis under the direction of the Principal Investigators.

Study participants have completed clinic visits where trained staff recorded vitals and lab results on print forms. The student assistant will transcribe print forms into a tabular format using Excel or the Qualtrics survey platform. They will attend team meetings and perform quality checks to ensure the dataset is accurate, consistent, and analysis-ready. These study forms are in Spanish, so a basic level of Spanish language proficiency is preferred.

This is a part-time position, approximately 10 hours per week. The anticipated work schedule is Tuesday/Thursday. The work will be performed on-site at Fraser Hall’s Department of Anthropology or at the offices of the Institute for Policy & Social Research in 607 Blake Hall.
