The Tatnall School is seeking an energetic and knowledgeable Art Specialist to join our Summer Camp team. Specialists play an integral role in creating exciting curriculum and serve as resourceful guides to our camp.

The Art Specialist will be responsible for planning fun and engaging lessons and activities that align with our ten weekly summer camp themes. The Specialist will work with Camp Coordinators and Counselors to implement these programs.

Essential Functions

  • Develop age-appropriate, art-based curriculums for our art program that align with camp goals and weekly themes
  • Facilitate and lead planned lessons and activities; instruct Camp Coordinators and Counselors how to facilitate lessons and activities you cannot personally facilitate
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Camp Counselors and Counselors in Training
  • Work with Camp Coordinators, secure the equipment and supplies needed for art lessons and activities; Manage, inventory, and store art program supplies
  • Ensure that all program schedules are completed satisfactorily and in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate program and administrative records
  • Ensure the safety and cleanliness of the camp site
  • Be responsible for knowing, understanding, training, and executing all camp policies and emergency procedures
  • Assist with the various day to day administrative tasks necessary for camp to run efficiently
  • Attend planning meetings as scheduled by Camp Director
  • Approximate schedule will be 8:30-4pm

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or significant coursework in educaation, art, or closely-related field
  • Current CPR / AED / First Aid certification or ability to obtain prior to start of camp
  • Minimum of 2 years previous experience supervising children ages 3-14, preferably in a camp or school setting
  • Experience supervising a diverse staff preferred
  • Must be available to work full-time from June 9 through August 14
  • Proven history of strong organizational and customer service skills; ability to multitask
  • Must have current TB test (within 1 year) and be able to pass a background check
  • Pre-camp planning, preparation, and purchasing may be required. Participation in Team Training is mandatory (tentatively scheduled for June 8-11)

Salary Information

Compensation is competitive and will be commensurate with a candidate’s skills, experience and education level.
