Overview
We are seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Psychiatrist to provide indirect clinical supervision for a comprehensive cognitive rehabilitation program serving patients with age-related cognitive decline through advanced stage dementia. This PRN remote position requires a minimum commitment of 10+ hours monthly and offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with an eclectic, multidisciplinary healthcare team dedicated to improving the quality of life for patients in home-based and memory care facility settings.The Supervising Psychiatrist will oversee the administration, scoring, and reporting of dementia staging protocols while ensuring clinical excellence and regulatory compliance. This role is ideal for an experienced psychiatrist seeking flexible, meaningful work that directly impacts the care of a vulnerable patient population.

RESPONSIBILITIES Clinical Supervision & Oversight

  • Provide indirect supervision of dementia staging protocol administration, scoring, and interpretation conducted by licensed and unlicensed healthcare professionals
  • Review and approve dementia staging assessments and reports for clinical accuracy and appropriateness
  • Ensure proper documentation and compliance with applicable state and federal regulations
  • Offer clinical consultation and guidance on complex cases involving cognitive impairment and behavioral symptoms

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

  • Collaborate remotely with an eclectic team including Physicians (MDs), Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), Licensed Bachelor Social Workers (LBSWs), Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs), and Healthcare Technicians
  • Participate in case conferences and interdisciplinary team meetings as needed
  • Provide education and mentorship to team members on dementia-related topics and best practices
  • Facilitate communication between team members regarding patient care plans and clinical concerns

Quality Assurance & Program Development

  • Monitor program outcomes and recommend improvements to protocols and procedures
  • Ensure adherence to evidence-based practices in dementia care and cognitive rehabilitation
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and program evaluations
  • Assist in the development of clinical policies and procedures related to dementia staging and cognitive assessment

Regulatory & Administrative Functions

  • Maintain appropriate licensure and meet all credentialing requirements
  • Complete required documentation within established timeframes
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other privacy regulations
  • Participate in continuing education to maintain expertise in geriatric psychiatry and dementia care

REQUIREMENTS Education & Licensure

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN)
  • Active, unrestricted medical license in the State of Texas (or ability to obtain prior to start date)
  • DEA registration (active and in good standing)

Experience & Expertise

  • Minimum 3-5 years of clinical experience in psychiatry, with demonstrated expertise in geriatric psychiatry, dementia care, or cognitive disorders
  • Experience with dementia staging tools (e.g., FAST, GDS, CDR, MMSE, MoCA) strongly preferred
  • Previous supervisory or consulting experience preferred
  • Knowledge of cognitive rehabilitation principles and practices

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of age-related cognitive decline, Alzheimer's disease, and other dementia syndromes
  • Excellent clinical judgment and decision-making abilities
  • Effective communication skills for remote collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  • Proficiency with telehealth platforms and electronic medical records
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct oversight
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

  • Reliable high-speed internet connection
  • Computer with webcam and audio capabilities for virtual meetings
  • HIPAA-compliant workspace for reviewing confidential patient information

  • Professional liability insurance (may be provided by employer)
  • Commitment to minimum 10+ hours per month with flexible scheduling
  • Ability to respond to clinical consultations within established timeframes

COMPENSATION Salary Range

  • Starting Rate: $150 per hour
