TEACHER, HEAVY EQUIPMENT - WILDWOOD

Full-time (1.0 FTE), 7-hour day, 10 month, school calendar position

• Design, implement and assess the effectiveness of curriculum for students Heavy Equipment program, featuring rigorous, engaging classroom instruction, and hands-on skills that will prepare students to be college and career ready in the Heavy Equipment Industry
• Possess knowledge and experience operating heavy equipment along with heavy duty truck and diesel repair in order to provide effective instruction, strategies, and skills to 11th & 12 grade students in a CTE program
• Work collaboratively with the Heavy Equipment co-teacher, and with Integrated Math and English Language Arts instructors, to create dynamic, hands-on lessons within the Heavy Equipment field that align with NY State Next Generation standards in Math and ELA, as well as the Heavy Equipment industry
• Maintain program excellence and prioritize appropriate safety protocols

• Prepare students for the nationally accredited certification exams in Heavy Equipment, specifically NOCTI Heavy Equipment & NCCER Performance, Level 1
• Implement 504 Plans and IEPs for students with diverse learning needs
• Seek professional development opportunities to stay current with changes and developments in NY State Learning standards and the Heavy Equipment industry
• Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, home school counselors and all others involved with the education of all students
• Uphold the BOCES Values: Service, Collaboration, Leadership, and Integrity
• Carry out all other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

Valid NYS Certification in Heavy Equipment

• Extensive experience with heavy equipment is required
• Ability to handle heavy lifting and willingness to work out-of-doors
• CDL Class B license, preferred
