General Summary:
The Telecommunications Engineer II is responsible for maintaining and installing telecommunications infrastructure and voice network components. Working under general supervision, this role focuses on the planning, design, and implementation of MACS (moves, adds, & changes), along with troubleshooting, monitoring, and maintaining voice, VoIP, and Call Center systems.
This position participates in troubleshooting technical issues with voice networks and telephony systems, diagnosing problems such as signal loss, faulty wiring, or misconfigurations. The role includes reviewing designs, estimating costs, installing, and documenting MACS, collaborating with stakeholders to analyze floor plans, programming guides, and technical specifications.
The Telecommunications Engineer II also prepares and implements voice network configuration changes to enhance system performance via CLI and GUI interfaces, and participates in on-call coverage for off-hours. Collaboration with voice network architects for VoIP network optimization is key. The role includes logging and following up on service provider trouble tickets, managing vendor performance, and providing training and support to end users on VoIP-related devices, software, and peripherals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain and install telecommunications infrastructure and voice network components, ensuring reliable and efficient communication systems.
Plan, design, and implement Moves, Adds, and Changes (MACs) within the telephony environment, following established procedures and minimizing service disruptions.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in voice networks, diagnosing problems such as signal loss, faulty wiring, or system misconfigurations.
Review telecommunications designs, estimate costs, and collaborate with stakeholders to analyze floor plans, programming guides, and technical specifications for MAC implementations.
Install and document MACs accurately, maintaining up-to-date records of telephony system changes and configurations.
Prepare and implement voice network configuration changes using Command Line Interface (CLI) and Graphical User Interface (GUI) tools to optimize system performance.
Participate in on-call rotations to provide timely support for off-hours telecommunications incidents and emergencies.
Collaborate with voice network architects and other IT teams to support and optimize VoIP network functionality.
Log, track, and follow up on service provider trouble tickets, ensuring prompt resolution and vendor accountability.
Manage vendor performance to ensure contractual obligations and service quality standards are met.
Provide training and support to end users on VoIP-related devices, software, and peripherals to enhance user proficiency and satisfaction.
Perform additional duties as reasonably required or assigned to support the organization’s telecommunication needs.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Reliable high-speed internet connection is required for all remote/hybrid positions.
Must have access to stable Wi-Fi with sufficient bandwidth to support video conferencing, cloud-based tools, and other online work-related activities.
A HIPAA-compliant work environment is required, including a secure workspace free from unauthorized access or interruptions, no use of public Wi-Fi unless connected through a secure company-provided VPN, and compliance with all applicable HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
