Role Purpose

The Tendring Manager (MEP) is responsible for managing the end-to-end tendering, estimating, and bid submission process for all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing packages within the organisation. The role ensures accurate and competitive pricing, compliance with technical specifications, and strong coordination with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients. The Tendring Manager plays a key role in winning new projects and supporting the strategic growth of the business.

Key ResponsibilitiesTender Management

  • Lead and manage the full tendering process for MEP works across commercial, industrial, infrastructure, and residential projects.
  • Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications, and client requirements to determine scope and deliverables.
  • Prepare tender queries, clarifications, and RFI submissions.
  • Develop detailed tender programmes, deliverables schedules, and submission plans.

Estimating & Cost Management

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems using industry pricing databases and in-house benchmarks.
  • Analyse drawings, BOQs, and technical documents to quantify materials, labour, and equipment.
  • Obtain competitive quotations from suppliers and subcontractors and evaluate their technical and commercial compliance.
  • Carry out value engineering reviews to optimize cost without compromising quality or compliance.
  • Produce detailed cost breakdowns and tender summary reports.

Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with design, commercial, project management, procurement, and construction teams to ensure accurate tender development.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and subcontractors throughout the bidding process.
  • Support the business development team in pre-bid meetings, presentations, and technical discussions.

Risk & Compliance

  • Identify project risks, constraints, and commercial exposures, providing mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure all tenders comply with industry standards, building regulations, and organizational quality procedures.
  • Participate in internal tender review meetings and obtain necessary approvals.

Post-Tender Activities

  • Support negotiations and final adjustments leading to contract award.
  • Prepare handover packages for project delivery teams following successful bids.
  • Conduct tender post-mortems to improve pricing strategies and tendering efficiency.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of MEP systems, construction methodologies, and industry standards.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Trimble, Candy, Causeway, ConQuest) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to interpret complex contract documents.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or related field.
  • years’ experience in MEP tendering/estimating within the construction or building services sector.
  • Proven track record of managing competitive tenders for medium to large-scale projects.
  • Experience working with contractors, consultants, and suppliers in the MEP industry.
  • Chartered status (CIBSE, IMechE, or equivalent) is an advantage but not essential.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹80,000.00 per year
