Key responsibilities
- Curriculum and lesson planning: Design and implement engaging lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and student needs.
- Instruction: Teach English language, literature, and composition to middle school students, focusing on skills like reading, writing, and grammar.
- Assessment and feedback: Evaluate student progress through assignments, exams, and presentations, and provide constructive feedback to help them improve.
- Classroom management: Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters a love for the subject.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student performance, behavior, and development.
- Professional development: Participate in staff meetings, professional development activities, and workshops to stay updated on the latest educational trends and methods.
- Extracurricular activities: Organize and participate in school events, literary activities, debates, and competitions to support student growth beyond the classroom.
- Record-keeping: Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other relevant information.
Qualifications and skills
- Education: A bachelor's degree in English or a related field, along with a teaching qualification like a B.Ed. degree, is typically required.
- Skills: Strong command of the English language (written and spoken), excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
- Experience: Previous experience in teaching is often preferred.
- Tech proficiency: Basic knowledge of computers is often a requirement.
