Role Overview
We are hiring a Toolroom Lead / Rubber Mold Manufacturing Specialist to run the in-house mold manufacturing, assembly, tryout, and preventive maintenance activities. The goal is to deliver production-ready molds with stable, repeatable quality and reduce mold-related downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and organize in-house mold manufacturing activities (work planning, task allocation, follow-up until delivery).
- Convert mold designs into manufacturing plans, shop drawings, and inspection checkpoints.
- Supervise machining, fitting, assembly, alignment, and mold closing quality (alignment & fit).
- Prepare molds for trials and ensure all components are ready (guides, plates, fasteners, inserts, etc.).
- Lead mold tryouts on rubber injection/compression machines and troubleshoot issues such as:
- flash, sticking, burn marks, short fill, dimensional instability
- , identifying root causes (mold vs process vs material).
- Execute required mold modifications after trials and document results and revisions.
- Establish mold documentation and traceability: mold IDs, parts list, revision history, tryout reports.
- Implement preventive maintenance for molds and manage critical spares/consumables.
- Coordinate with Production and Quality to approve molds before mass production.
- Improve mold changeover time and reduce mold-related defects and stoppages.Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience in mold manufacturing/assembly/maintenance (rubber injection/compression preferred; strong plastic mold experience is acceptable with clear rubber exposure).
- Solid understanding of mold fundamentals: parting lines, venting, gating/runners (injection), flash control, material selection, surface finishing.
- Excellent ability to read engineering drawings; GD&T is a strong plus.
- Skilled in measurement and inspection tools (vernier, micrometer, height gauge; CMM is a plus).
- Strong organization and follow-up skills with the ability to set up clear internal procedures.
- Practical shop-floor mindset and effective coordination with Design, Production, and Quality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma/Bachelor’s in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or a strong equivalent technical background.
- Prior toolroom experience in rubber/plastics manufacturing.
- Proven experience stabilizing molds and reducing scrap/defects.
