Our UI Designer is an integral part of our Experience Design (XD) team, working across a wide range of clients and products. A UI Designer at Modus typically reports to an Associate Creative Director, Experience Design and above.


Responsibilities

  • Create detailed designs & interfaces for websites, apps, dashboards, and other digital products, from concepting through dev handoff
  • Create concepts and prototypes for user testing & validation
  • Support the Creative Director in driving the creative strategy forward by designing concepts to illustrate the vision
  • Attend and participate in client presentations and internal work sessions; help capture and implement design feedback
  • Attend team meetings and check-ins with manager to provide status updates and take in feedback on projects
  • Help maintain and leverage existing style guides and design systems; assist with the documentation of design specs
  • Work collaboratively within a cross-functional team (Client Strategy, Product Management, UX, Content Strategy, Marketing, Engineering and QA) to deliver user-centric designs
  • Report on progress/updates and/or communicate with other team members, project leads, and our clients, as required
  • Support design production efforts, such as creating and exporting dev-ready assets, conducting stock image searches, and photo-editing
  • Other duties related to the position may arise from time to time and may be assigned

Qualifications

  • 3-4 years of professional experience as a UI designer
  • Experience with or strong interest in data visualization, dashboard design, and product design
  • Pharma & Healthcare experience is preferred but not required
  • Strong proficiency in Figma and preferably Adobe CC Suite
  • Experience creating component-based designs for sites built using headless Content Management Systems
  • Experience working with and maintaining a robust design system in Figma leveraging reusable components and variables, based on a thorough understanding of atomic design principles
  • Strong knowledge of visual design principles (including typography, color theory, visual hierarchy and layout skills), user-centered design best practices, and digital design trends
  • Must have a strong portfolio of previous UI design work
  • College (or equivalent) degree with a focus in visual communications, marketing, interaction design, cognitive science, human factors, or related field a plus
  • Experienced in translating business needs and user research into innovative and captivating concepts and designs
  • Experienced in presenting detailed designs to internal and external teams
  • Experience leveraging user research, web analytics data and SEO strategies to inform design decisions
  • Strong self-management skills with ability to stay organized while juggling multiple projects and deadlines
  • Proactive communicator who can collaborate with remote teams (previous experience working with remote teams is a plus)
  • Experience working with development teams using agile methodologies
  • Willingness to travel to client headquarters in NY Metro area once a month
