About the role :
Looking for the candidate responsible for designing, helping to develop, and maintaining the UI/UX for the rebuilding of Wisconsin’s statewide voter registration system called WisVote, on .NET Core framework. WisVote serves as the state’s central database of voter and election information as well as the primary tool for local election officials to administer elections. This position is responsible for creating intuitive, efficient, and accessible designs that meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards and align usability and security requirements, while maintaining the overall structure and integrity familiar to system users.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a high-level working knowledge of all elections laws governing responsibilities of state and local election officials and voters, as it relates to information technology systems.
- Act as an internal consultant, advocate, mentor, and change agent within the organization as it relates to the UI/UX of the WisVote application.
- Use front-end web technologies like HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript/jQuery, and potentially modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Angular, React, Vue.js).
- Design applications that are accessible to users with disabilities, adhering to relevant accessibility guidelines as laid out in the WCAG 2.0 guidelines.
Must-Have Skills (Non-Negotiable):
- 3+ years of experience creating wireframes + prototypes , writing user-friendly UI text, user research + persona creation + journey mapping
- UI/UX experience in enterprise applications, not just marketing websites
- Ability to work with developers, PMs, and SMEs
- Strong communication skills
- Candidate lives in Wisconsin currently.
Nice-to-Have
- WCAG 2.1 AA or accessibility design experience
- Experience on government/public sector systems
- Experience designing systems with high compliance and legal constraints , internal or transactional systems (not marketing sites).
- Familiarity with ASP.NET Core frameworks , Razor page , Telerik UI, and front-end web technologies like HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript, and potentially modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Angular and Vue).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55.00 - $60.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
