Overview
The History teacher shall prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christian men and women, to the praise and glory of God.
Essential
- Having accepted Jesus Christ as personal Savior, shall affirm publicly, and have a lifestyle consistent with GRACE’s Statement of Faith and the GRACE Mission, Vision and Core Values.
- Shall foster a safe, predictable, and supportive environment for students.
- Shall interact with colleagues in a respectful and collegial manner that fosters a healthy faculty culture.
- Shall demonstrate appropriate planning and preparation for effective instruction.
- Shall teach classes as assigned following prescribed scope and sequence as scheduled by the Principal.
- Must adhere to work hours that are set to perform the required job function.
- Shall refuse to use or circulate confidential information inappropriately.
- Shall adhere to all guidelines, policies, procedures, and responsibilities outlined in the employee handbook.
- Shall embrace the use of technology through instructional strategies and engage students in meaningful use of technology.
- Shall authentically engage in self-reflection and the development of a growth and renewal plan. This includes written goals and progress toward them.
Spiritual
- Interact with the students in a manner promoting the goal of wanting each child to be known, valued, and loved.
- Must show by example the importance of scripture memorization and study, prayer, witnessing, and unity in Christian fellowship.
- Should maintain a supporting and nurturing relationship with students.
- Should motivate students to accept God’s gift of salvation and grow in their faith.
- Will work to lead students to a realization of their self-worth in Christ.
Professional
- Shall utilize educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth.
- Shall obtain and maintain a current standard ACSI teaching certificate.
- Shall seek the counsel of the Principal, colleagues, and parents while maintaining a teachable attitude.
- Shall provide input and recommendations for administrative and managerial functions in the school.
- Shall attend and participate in scheduled campus and/or school meetings: devotions, prayer, faculty, State of GRACE, homecoming, graduation, etc.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Prior teaching experience is highly preferred.
- Classroom experience teaching US History, US Government, Modern World.
- AP experience a plus.
- ACSI Certification preferred, required for continued employment.
- Understanding of child development for ages of students in class or grade.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach.
- Must be able to lift to 15 pounds.
- Must be able to traverse the classroom and adjust one’s tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child.
