Join our team and help shape the future of energy! In this role as a Utility Grid-Edge Planning & Innovation Analyst, you’ll support grid modernization, enhance customer energy programs, and drive the transition toward clean, efficient energy. You’ll work with cutting-edge analytics, distributed energy resources (DERs), and smart meter (AMI) data to optimize utility operations and improve system efficiency.

What You’ll Do:

  • Leverage AI-powered analytics, AMI data, and operational insights to identify system inefficiencies, optimize load management, and support energy-saving programs.
  • Lead or assist technical and economic studies on grid conditions, emerging grid-edge technologies, and DERs to enhance asset utilization and defer unnecessary investments.
  • Conduct operational and fiscal analysis, coordinate utilities operations and capital budgets, and provide recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, presentations, and recommendations for leadership, stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies on grid modernization strategies, research initiatives, demonstration projects, and innovation efforts.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE and REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will have the following education and experience:

Utility Analyst: Bachelor’s degree in electrical or industrial engineering, public or business administration, planning, economics, computer/data science, or a related field, and two years of experience that includes utility analytics, planning, operations research, and/or data science.

Senior Utility Analyst: Bachelor’s degree in electrical or industrial engineering, public or business administration, planning, economics, computer/data science, or a related field and four years of professional experience that includes utility analytics, planning, operations research, and/or data science; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Two years of the required experience must have been in a supervisory capacity or must hold a certificate as a Certified Public Manager.

DESIRABLE SKILLS

· Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including working with large datasets and complex technical information.

· Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL, Power BI, Tableau) or ability to learn quickly.

·Understanding of clean energy concepts, customer energy programs, electric utility operations, distribution systems, grid planning principles, and community energy engagement.

·Ability to develop and interpret models related to load forecasting, distributed energy resource (DER) analysis, and energy consumption patterns, to name a few.

·Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly for translating technical results into clear insights and presenting findings in an engaging way.

·Strong organizational skills and ability to collaborate across departments and manage multiple projects.

·Curiosity, initiative, and a collaborative mindset with commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.

·Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships.

Pay: $25.15 - $78.93 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
