Position Summary:

The Vice President of Bio Process is a senior executive leader at TARGAN responsible for setting the long-term scientific, organizational, and operational strategy for the Bio Process department. This role oversees a multi-disciplinary organization that includes laboratory R&D, field trials, statistical sciences, biosecurity, and animal welfare. The VP ensures that Bio Process initiatives support corporate objectives, product development milestones, and commercialization goals. This executive represents TARGAN in high-level customer, partner, and investor engagements and serves as a strategic advisor to the CEO and senior leadership team.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead the long-term strategic vision for the Bio Process function, aligning scientific direction and organizational goals with company-wide objectives.
  • Provide executive leadership to a multi-level organization, including Directors, Managers, scientists, and technical staff.
  • Own Bio Process portfolio governance, including prioritization, resource allocation, budgeting, and risk assessment.
  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, Product Management, and other senior leaders to guide product roadmap decisions and ensure scientific integrity across programs.
  • Oversee the scientific and operational execution of R&D initiatives, ensuring alignment with commercialization standards and regulatory expectations.
  • Lead strategic customer interactions and represent TARGAN as the senior scientific executive across the animal production industry.
  • Evaluate and advance collaborations, partnerships, and new technology opportunities that align with company strategy.
  • Support and expand the company’s patent portfolio, encouraging invention disclosure and working closely with patent counsel.
  • Represent TARGAN at high-profile scientific meetings, conferences, and industry events.
  • Oversee policies and programs for the care, use, and welfare of animals onsite and in field environments.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • Broad scientific background, with knowledge of poultry, swine, and aquaculture industries, vaccines and biologicals.
  • Senior-level leadership skills with the ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing teams.
  • 10 -15 years of experience working with livestock species in a laboratory, experimental or field setting.
  • Extensive knowledge of poultry (broilers, layers, breeders & turkeys) & swine diseases and suitable prevention & treatment programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to influence at all organizational levels and clearly communicate complex scientific concepts.
  • Demonstrated agility in high-growth, fast-paced corporate environments.
  • Proven success in developing and executing scientific and organizational strategy.
  • Experience launching new technologies and working cross-functionally with engineering and product teams.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • PhD, DVM, or equivalent required.
  • 15–20+ years of industry experience in device, animal health, or livestock production.
  • 10+ years of proven executive leadership experience, including oversight of Directors and multi-functional teams.
  • Robust experience with USDA CVB safety and efficacy studies regulatory submissions is required. Similar experience with international agencies (CFIA, VMD and EFSA) are preferred.
  • Startup or high-growth company experience highly desirable.
  • High degree of integrity, ethics, and professional judgment.


Working Conditions:

Work is performed inside a flex space building consisting of offices, open desk space, laboratory, machine shop, and a manufacturing floor. Frequent exposure to animals. Level of noise is usually quiet in the office environment and temperature controlled. Noise levels are elevated in the warehouse space where temperatures can vary depending on the outside elements and weather. Work on customer sites as needed. Travel will be required (up to 30%, mostly local), including attending conferences, meetings (customer, investor, and business) and customer sites (hatcheries, farms, processing plants and other facilities).
