Job Description:
The Vice President, Global Facilities and Real Estate, is a key leadership role responsible for the strategic direction and operational excellence of TransMedics’ global facilities portfolio. This includes oversight of TransMedics Headquarters (U.S.), National OCS Program (NOP) hub sites, and all international (OUS) locations.
Building on TransMedics’ strong foundation of world-class facilities, this leader will ensure our environments—laboratories, manufacturing sites, logistics hubs, and office spaces—operate safely, efficiently, and in alignment with our growth strategy and mission to redefine the standard of care in organ transplantation.
This role combines long-term strategic planning with hands-on operational leadership. The Vice President will be accountable for optimizing our global footprint, maintaining facility reliability and compliance, elevating the visitor and employee experience, and ensuring financial discipline in all capital and operational expenditures.
The leader will collaborate closely with Engineering, Transplant Logistics, Security, EHS, and other technical functions to deliver best-in-class facilities performance—supporting innovation, operational scalability, and a culture of safety, efficiency, and excellence.
As a key member of the SCO leadership team, this role plays a critical part in enabling TransMedics’ mission by ensuring our physical infrastructure reflects the same world-class standards as our technology and products.
This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Lead Global Facilities Operations – Oversee the planning, management, and performance of all TransMedics facilities, including HQ, NOP hubs, and OUS sites.

Strategic Footprint Optimization – Develop and execute a global facilities strategy aligned with business growth, operational requirements, and cost efficiency.

World-Class Operations – Drive excellence in building operations, maintenance, utilities management, and site services to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance.

Capital Planning & Financial Discipline – Oversee facilities budgets, capital projects, and vendor contracts with a focus on cost control, ROI, and long-term sustainability.

Large-Scale Construction & Build-Out Leadership – Direct and manage major capital projects, including new site construction, facility expansions, renovations, and build-outs. Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, on budget, and to the highest quality and compliance standards.

Collaboration with Technical Functions – Partner with Engineering, Transplant Logistics, and other operational teams to ensure facilities support innovation, process flow, and technical readiness.

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

This position, initially, will not have management responsibilities.
PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES
- Must be physically capable of performing all assigned duties, including accessing all areas of the facility.

Ability to work in various plant environments, including outdoor settings and extreme weather conditions, as well as areas with high temperatures, noise, and dust.

Must be able to access all site locations, which may involve working at heights more than 30 ft, entering confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs.

Will be required to work in a combination of office and outdoor environment.

Must be able to tolerate exposure to challenging environmental conditions, including heat and cold, vibration, loud noise, oils, and airborne particles such as dust, fumes, and metallic matter.

Physical activities may include, but are not limited to: standing, walking on uneven surfaces, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and sitting for extended periods.

Must be able to safely lift and carry items weighing around 50 pounds occasionally.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field.
-
15+ years of progressive leadership in facilities management within a high-growth, regulated industry (medical device, biotech, or manufacturing preferred).

Proven success managing large-scale construction, renovation, and build-out projects across diverse facility types.

Experience overseeing global multi-site operations, including R&D, manufacturing, and administrative environments.

Strong financial acumen and experience in capital planning, project management, and vendor oversight.

Deep understanding of EHS, security, and regulatory compliance standards.

Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.

Demonstrated success leading major site development, construction, or relocation initiatives.

Experience building high-performance, customer-focused facilities teams.

Familiarity with digital tools (BMS, CAFM, ERP, Power BI) for facilities performance management.

Strong financial acumen, project planning, and capital management capabilities.
