Clinical Care
- Act as a safe and competent practitioner, delivering high standards of patient care.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual patient care needs.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor vital signs, and carry out nursing procedures.
- Assist doctors during rounds, present patient updates, record instructions, and implement treatment plans.
- Ensure infection prevention and control practices are followed in the ward.
- Support patients in activities of daily living, including mobility, nutrition, and hygiene.
- Respond promptly to patient needs, concerns, and emergencies.
Coordination & Communication
- Coordinate with ward secretary regarding admissions, discharges, and billing processes.
- Liaise with diagnostic, pharmacy, dietary, housekeeping, and other support services for smooth patient care.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families, providing health education and emotional support.
- Report and escalate critical changes in patient condition to doctors and senior nursing staff.
- Collaborates with interdepartmental teams to provide quality patient care.
Documentation & Administration
- Maintain accurate nursing notes, vital charts, intake-output records, and treatment documentation.
- Raise requisitions for medicines, consumables, and ward supplies as required.
- Ensure proper handover during shift changes with accurate patient information.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with hospital policy.
Safety & Quality
- Ensure safety and well-being of patients, staff, and visitors in the ward area.
- Follow hospital, national, and local standards, policies, and procedures.
- Take responsibility for proper use and care of ward equipment.
- Identify and report any safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or incidents.
Education & Teamwork
- Provide guidance and support to junior nurses, nursing assistants, and trainees.
- Participate in in-service education, training, and quality improvement activities.
- Work in a collaborative manner with the healthcare team to achieve patient care goals.
