CSA South, Inc. is seeking one to three Level 1 Environmental Field Technicians to work at the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) Field Operations Center in West Palm Beach, FL. Our team is dedicated to maintaining and improving water quality throughout South and Central Florida, adhering to strict SFWMD protocols.

Work hours for these positions: Monday through Thursday 6:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Responsibilities

• Assist SFWMD staff with water quality sampling and quality assurance.
• Collect surface water samples at various water quality projects throughout the District.
• Perform sampling, calibration, and maintenance of equipment.
• Document and report field activities using Horizon Field Data Management software.
• Collect groundwater, fish, soil/sediment, and other biological samples.
• Conduct specialized sampling for ultra-trace mercury and pesticides.
• Ensure all activities comply with District protocols and quality assurance procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a science-related field with 0-1 year of experience in scientific support work, or an Associate's Degree in Science with 2+ years of relevant experience
• Knowledge of biological and water quality collection methodologies, techniques, and instrumentation.
• Familiarity with GPS, GIS, MS Word, and Excel.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and operate effectively under Field Project Management.
• Valid Driver’s License with the ability to drive 4-wheel drive vehicles over unpaved terrain.
• Basic water and swimming skills; boating experience is a plus.
• Physical ability to stand or kneel for extended periods outdoors, lift up to 60 pounds, and bend/twist while moving equipment.
• Good vision for computer screen work and operating equipment.
• Willingness to work in environments with stinging/biting insects, snakes, alligators, polluted water, contaminants, acids, and debris.
• Live within driving distance to SFWMD Field Operations Ctr.
