Responsibilities
- Provide 24/7 weather forecasting support to real-time global combat operations.
- Train government personnel on unit-specific weather product development.
- Use proper procedures for providing weather services, including oversight of trainees.
- Analyze climatic regimes, weather systems, terrain, and forecasts to support operational decisions.
- Produce and present weather analysis and forecasts for aircrews and leadership (WAR/O&I briefs).
- Deliver mission execution forecasts (MEFs) covering takeoff, enroute, destination, and refueling tracks.
- Track hazardous weather in near-real time (e.g., icing, thunderstorms).
- Use tactical software (e.g., CAVOK) to generate mission weather inputs.
- Brief aircrews on Area of Responsibility (AOR) weather before flights or as required.
- Provide operational guidance under high-stress/severe weather conditions.
- Make real-time recommendations to DoD personnel during emergency situations.
- Modify centralized forecasts to reflect mission-specific weather conditions.
- Maintain pass-down logs for shift continuity.
- Support secure forecasting in compliance with COMSEC, OPSEC, and COMPUSEC.
- Attend required Meteorological Conferences (MetCon).
- Coordinate coverage with 25 ATKG weather offices (co-located and remote).
- Maintain proficiency in assigned duties and software platforms.

Provide technical oversight and recommendations to other weather forecasters.
Qualifications
Related Experience:
- Minimum two (2) years experience as a certified weather forecaster supporting DoD operations.
- Top Secret/SCI clearance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with: AFW-WEBS, Mark IV-B, and CAVOK (or similar tactical weather systems).
- Knowledge of:
- Military meteorology and forecasting principles.
- Security protocols for COMSEC, OPSEC, COMPUSEC.
- Air Force Weather (AFW) Career Field Education and Training Plan (CFETP).
- Air Force Weather Knowledge Center’s advanced distributed learning.

Project management and IT-related analysis in support of operations.
- Experience briefing senior leadership and aircrews in operational environments.
- Ability to work independently under high-stress, combat-operational conditions.

Experience with high-side (classified) weather systems and data handling.
