Job Overview
We are a growing young contemporary women's brand that is seeking a talented designer to join our team to grow our sub-label contemporary line. We are looking for someone creative, trend-driven, and detail-oriented who can bring fresh ideas and strong design skills to our line.

Duties

  • Develop original fashion concepts and designs aligned with seasonal trends and brand direction.
  • Research and interpret current and upcoming trends for maximum profitability in sales.
  • Create clear, accurate fashion sketches (hand or digital) for seasonal collections.
  • Select appropriate fabrics, and colors needed for overall brand direction.
  • Collaborate with sales team to ensure designs meet consumer preferences and retail strategies.
  • Oversee the entire product lifecycle from initial concept through sample creation and 1st prototype samples.
  • Coordinate with the production manager to ensure designs are feasible for manufacturing while maintaining quality standards and cost.
  • Stay updated on fashion retail trends, styling techniques, and industry innovations to keep collections fresh and relevant, as well as for seasonal photoshoots.
  • Maintain and keep record of original samples for developments.
  • Communicate with vendors local and international for sample developments.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with CEO, sales, and production to ensure brand identity is upheld.

Requirements

  • At least 2-3 years experience in a contemporary apparel line.
  • Experience in working with overseas manufacturers.
  • Knowledge of garment fit and sample fittings.
  • Proven experience in fashion design with a strong portfolio demonstrating creativity and technical skill.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), and product lifecycle management tools (N41 a plus).
  • Solid understanding of garment construction techniques, sewing machine operation, and pattern drafting.
  • Knowledge of color theory, fabric properties, and textile sourcing practices.
  • Familiarity with fashion retail dynamics, merchandising strategies, and styling principles.
  • Ability to illustrate concepts through hand drawing or digital illustration tools like Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.
  • Experience working within the entire product development process from initial sketching to final production.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating across teams including merchandising, production, and marketing.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
