Workers’ Compensation Paralegal, Woodbridge, NJ

Wilentz is currently seeking is seeking a full-time, experienced Workers’ Compensation Paralegal to support attorneys in all phases of workers’ compensation claims. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of NJ Workers’ Compensation Court procedures, is highly organized, and can manage a busy caseload with minimal supervision.

Essential Responsibilities include:

· Manage a high-volume caseload from intake through settlement.

· Maintain case calendars, deadlines, medical treatment timelines, and litigation events.

· Draft and file Workers’ Compensation pleadings, including: claim petitions, motions for medical and temporary benefits, and answers, rejoinders, and settlement documents (section 20 & order approving settlement).

· Monitor and update case status in case management software.

· Order, review, and summarize medical records.

· Communicate with clients regarding treatment, appointments, and claim status.

· Coordinate independent medical examinations (IMEs) and expert evaluations.

· Prepare detailed medical summaries, exhibits, and trial binders for hearings.

· Prepare discovery responses and subpoenas.

· Communicate with opposing counsel, adjusters, and the Division of Workers’ Compensation.

· Assist attorneys in hearing preparation and settlement negotiations.

· Track authorized treatments, TTD benefits, permanency ratings, and lien information.

· Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding case progress.

· Provide compassionate, clear, and timely communication.

· File and maintain case files and records, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

· Communicate professionally with clients, courts, medical providers, and other stakeholders regarding case status and documentation.

· Coordinate appointments for applicants with treating doctors, AMEs (Agreed Medical Examiners), and PQMEs (Panel Qualified Medical Examiners).

· Maintain and update case management software.

· Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Experience with trial preparation and settlement packages.

· Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.

· Paralegal certificate or relevant legal training + Bachelor’s degree.

· A minimum of 5+ years’ law firm experience as a workers' compensation paralegal.

· Strong understanding of Workers' Compensation laws and terminology.

· Proficiency in using computers for legal research and tasks, including Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software-- iManage A+.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.

· Ability to work onsite full time; Monday through Friday, 9 am – 5 pm (35-hour work week).

Pay: $58,000.00 - $69,000.00 per year
