Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Workshop Supervisor with a strong background in both carpentry and aluminium fabrication. You will be the frontline leader in our workshop, responsible for overseeing daily production, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety, and managing a team of skilled carpenters and metal fabricators. The ideal candidate is a practical problem-solver with excellent leadership skills and a deep understanding of both trades.

Key Responsibilities

· Production Supervision & Workflow:
· Plan, assign, and supervise daily tasks for the workshop team, ensuring efficient workflow and on-time completion of projects.
· Read and interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, and technical specifications for both carpentry and aluminium work.
· Oversee the entire production process, from material preparation to assembly and finishing.
· Coordinate with project managers and other departments to schedule work and meet project deadlines.
· Team Leadership & Development:
· Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of carpenters, aluminium fabricators, and helpers.
· Conduct on-the-job training to enhance team skills in both carpentry and metalworking techniques.
· Manage team performance, provide constructive feedback, and maintain high morale.
· Quality Control & Assurance:
· Conduct rigorous quality checks at every stage of the fabrication process to ensure all work meets company standards and project specifications.
· Ensure a high standard of craftsmanship in all joinery, welding, assembly, and finishing work.
· Workshop Safety & Maintenance:
· Enforce strict adherence to health and safety regulations (OSHA standards) to maintain a zero-accident workplace.
· Ensure all workshop machinery and tools (for both wood and metal) are properly maintained and used correctly.
· Manage a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment (5S principles).
· Resource Management:
· Monitor and manage inventory of raw materials (timber, sheet goods, aluminium profiles, glass, hardware).
· Control the use of consumables and minimize waste to optimize costs.
· Report on workshop productivity, material usage, and any issues.

Qualifications & Experience

· Essential:
· Proven experience (5+ years) as a Workshop Supervisor, Foreman, or Senior Technician in a workshop environment that works with both carpentry/joinery and aluminium fabrication.
· Strong hands-on skills in carpentry (e.g., reading plans, cutting, assembling, finishing) and aluminium work (e.g., cutting, welding/MIG/TIG, mechanical assembly).
· In-depth knowledge of workshop machinery for wood and metal (e.g., table saws, planers, CNC routers; mitre saws, band saws, welding equipment).
· Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
· Strong understanding of workshop health and safety protocols.
· Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· Highly Desirable:
· Formal qualification (apprenticeship, diploma) in Carpentry, Metal Fabrication, or a related field.

· Knowledge of powder coating, anodizing, or other finishing processes for aluminium.
· First Aid/CPR certification.
