Job Purpose

We are currently hiring Senior Laboratory Analyst, To provide Chemistry laboratory services through effective performance of qualitative and quantitative analytical testing of Hazardous waste and other environmental samples, establishing guidelines and procedures according to the best International practices to develop the need for laboratory accreditation, providing training in Lab testing procedures and sample collection processes, performing the general analytical and specialized instrumental testing aiming to optimize Laboratory operation, safeguard personnel and equipment


Job Description

  • Accountable for analyzing assigned samples as directed by the Line Manager or their delegate.
  • Responsible for preparing the necessary working standards required for analysis and conducting authorized tests.
  • Execute routine and non-routine analyses within specified timeframes, following established methodologies, relevant Standard Operating Procedures, Analytical Test Methods, and adhering to HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) protocols.
  • Perform calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment and glassware.
  • Analyze samples for inorganic, organic, and/or metal parameters using physical, classical chemistry, chromatography, or Spectroscopy techniques, as outlined in-house or standard methods.
  • Develop guidelines necessary for efficient and effective Laboratory testing as instructed by the Line Manager.
  • Ensure planned preventive maintenance and instrument preparation are on schedule to minimize downtime.
  • Develop new testing methods, validate these newly created methods, and submit validation reports to the Line Manager. Record chemistry test results accurately and reliably.
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of a Quality Management System in compliance with ISO 9001 Certification and ISO 17025 accreditation for the Laboratory.
  • Aid in planning and organizing the team's activities to achieve section-wide objectives.
  • Supervise the daily activities of the assigned team, escalating achievements and concerns that may affect smooth operations.
  • Monitor the usage of chemicals and equipment in the laboratory and ensure timely replenishment.
  • Provide training to technicians and assistants as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance safety practices in the lab.
  • Contribute to the development of data collection guidelines and methodology aligned with waste generator Lab results and the establishment of a historical database.
  • Support the Waste evaluation and operation team when required and as instructed by the Line Manager.
  • Adhere to all relevant quality, health, safety, and environmental procedures, instructions, and controls to ensure employee safety, product/service quality, and environmental compliance.
  • Responsible for maintaining raw data for analysis and conducting QC checks.
  • Ensure the practice of good laboratory practices within the laboratory.
  • Assisst in developing the required receipe for Industrial waste treatment and pretreatment activities to ensure the best optimization of the facility.
  • Assist in the development of tender documentation, technical evaluation of proposals received as required
  • Adhere to all relevant quality, health, safety and environmental procedures, instructions, and controls in order to guarantee the safety of employees, quality of products/ services and environmental compliance

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related despince with a minimum of 4 to 6 years of Laboratory experience
  • Prior experience in High-tech instruments like ICP-MS, XRF, Ion chromatography, TOC, Cyanide analyzer, and other spectroscopy instrument.
  • Should have sound knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge in Microsoft Office and Excel.
