Job Description
The Smart Materials Lab (SML) and the Center for Smart Engineering Materials (CSEM), New York University Abu Dhabi, seek to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate in the field of materials for petroleum applications.
The position includes submission of biweekly and other reports, help with grant applications, practical training for use of laboratory equipment, and regular attendance of the SML and CSEM group meetings.
The applicant should be a chemist, chemical analyst, chemical engineer or materials scientist with either academic background or industrial experience in chemistry or chemical engineering of oil and gas or related disciplines. The candidate should be familiar with the basics of chemical and physical methods for characterization of organic materials or materials. The candidate is expected to work closely with the members of the SML and CSEM to use physical, chemical and other methods for reliable and accurate characterization of materials, not only in the applied domain, but also on fundamental research topics assigned by the group and center leadership.
In parallel with research, the candidate will participate in supervision and training of researchers, students and other interested individuals on a range of analytical and physicochemical, spectroscopic, microscopic, mechanical and other methods for characterization. The candidate will oversee the research of students and other researchers in the Center, will file data and results and prepare them for presentation and publication, and they will contribute materials and preparation of the reports to the sponsor(s).
