Position Overview

The Transportation Supervisor oversees and coordinates the transportation of materials, equipment, and personnel to and from construction sites. This role ensures compliance with safety regulations, optimizes logistics, and maintains the efficiency of transportation operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fleet Management
  • Supervise and coordinate the scheduling, maintenance, and operation of company-owned or leased vehicles and heavy equipment.
  • Ensure proper licensing, registration, and compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
  • Monitor vehicle inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Logistics & Coordination
  • Develop and implement transportation plans to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment to construction sites.
  • Collaborate with project managers, procurement teams, and suppliers to streamline delivery schedules.
  • Optimize routes to reduce fuel costs, minimize downtime, and improve efficiency.
  • Staff Supervision & Training
  • Manage, train, and evaluate drivers, dispatchers, and other transportation staff.
  • Enforce safety protocols and company policies to minimize transportation-related incidents.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and ensure compliance with DOT and OSHA standards.
  • Compliance & Safety
  • Monitor and enforce safety regulations, including load limits, hazardous material handling, and vehicle safety inspections.
  • Ensure drivers maintain accurate logs and adhere to Hours of Service (HOS) regulations.
  • Investigate and address transportation-related accidents or violations.
  • Budget & Cost Control
  • Manage transportation budgets, track expenses, and implement cost-saving strategies.
  • Negotiate with third-party logistics providers to secure cost-effective contracts.
  • Reporting & Documentation
  • Maintain transportation records, including fuel consumption, mileage, maintenance logs, and driver performance reports.
  • Generate reports on fleet efficiency, incident records, and compliance audits.

Qualifications & Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, or a related field preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation/logistics, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and other transportation regulations.
  • Experience managing a fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in logistics software, GPS tracking, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred but not required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ﷼6,500.00 - ﷼7,500.00 per month
