    Job Description:

    Purpose of the Position:

    • The Director ICT Operations will be responsible for overseeing the efficient and secure daily operations of NUST's ICT infrastructure, ensuring the seamless delivery of ICT services that support the institution's academic, research, and administrative needs. This role centers on operational management, including system maintenance, user support and IT continuity.
    • The Director will focus on optimizing ICT systems, maintaining operational excellence, and fostering innovation to enhance the university's overall goals.

    Qualification:

    • PhD in Telecommunication Engg, Computer Science, Software Engg, IT System Management, Computer Engg, Cyber Security, Networks or any related discipline.

    Experience:

    Essential:

    • Minimum 15 – 20 years of experience in ICT operations, in a university environment or mega organization.
    • 5-7 years of experience in project management in a software industry.
    • 3-4 years of experience in IT systems implementation, management, operations and budgeting / financial planning of ICT operations, firewalls management and cloud-based solutions.

    Desirable:

    • Certifications such as Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent.
    • 10 – 15 years experience in a higher education organization within Pakistan and Abroad.
    • Proven track record of managing large-scale ICT operations, IT governance and data centers.
    • Expertise in designing and implementing robust ICT policies, ensuring and managing IT risk mitigation strategies.

    Key Responsibilities:

    ICT Service Management:
    • Oversee the efficient delivery of ICT services, including helpdesk support, incident resolution, and problem management, ensuring optimal user experience and operational efficiency.

    Infrastructure Operations:
    • Manage the end-to-end operation and maintenance of ICT infrastructure, encompassing data centers, servers, storage systems, and network devices, ensuring high availability and reliability.

    IT Service Continuity:
    • Develop and implement robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans, mitigating risks and ensuring uninterrupted ICT services.

    Capacity Planning:
    • Conduct proactive forecasting, resource allocation, and performance monitoring to ensure ICT infrastructure scalability and operational efficiency.

    Vendor & Contract Management:
    • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with ICT vendors, oversee contract negotiations, monitor vendor performance, and resolve disputes effectively.

    Budgeting & Cost Optimization:
    • Develop and manage ICT operational budgets, monitor expenditures, and implement cost-effective solutions while maintaining service excellence.

    Leadership & Team Development:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing ICT operations team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and professional growth.

    Key Skills / Abilities:

    • Strong leadership skills with experience managing diverse teams and driving performance in a high-pressure, mission-critical environment.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including academic departments, research centers, and external vendors.

    • 3rd Div in academic career / weak academic profile.
    • NUST employees with less than one year of service with NUST and / or absence of NOC from Head of Institution.
    • In process of pursuing a required degree.
    • Medically unfit.
