Job Description
Introduction
Aga Khan University chartered in 1983 as Pakistan's first private international university, is committed to the provision of education, research, and health care of international standards relevant to Pakistan and the region. The affiliated Aga Khan University Hospital provides state-of-the-art clinical facilities and well-equipped diagnostic services. The University currently has teaching sites in Pakistan, East Africa, the United Kingdom, and Afghanistan, and is a major component of Aga Khan Development Network.
The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has nine community-based field sites across Pakistan (including five in Karachi) and focuses on research for the betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that caters to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.
This is a grant-funded contractual position.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible to:
- hire study staff and provide training to them as per the protocols and guidelines of the study
- develop high-quality research proposals for the funding agency
- prepare and compile periodic study progress reports and present the study results as per the requirements
- support the Manager in obtaining permissions from provincial health and administrative authorities for survey implementation
- develop and share operational plans for training, data collection and monitoring
- liaise with key partners for monitoring activities in different field operations and perform monitoring visits to ensure data quality
- identify logistics for survey teams with the support of AKU line departments
- delegate tasks between teams for various project activities
- coordinate with the data management unit for data-related issues and updates, and prepare and submit daily progress reports of all teams to the supervisor.
Requirements
You should have:
- Master’s degree in Public Health, or any other related field from an HEC recognized or reputable foreign institution
- at least two years of relevant work experience
- comprehensive knowledge of modern research tools and techniques
- excellent project management skills including the ability to lead the workforce and manage resources effectively
- strong management and supervision skills
- excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to present complex ideas and information in clear and meaningful form to various stakeholders
- willingness for extensive travelling to various field sites for monitoring and supervision.
