Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Credit Controller to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in credit control within the building materials sector, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to manage high-value accounts while minimizing risk and ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full credit control process across a large portfolio of clients in the building materials industry.
  • Assess and approve credit limits for new and existing customers based on financial analysis and creditworthiness.
  • Monitor customer accounts to ensure payments are received on time and take proactive steps to minimize overdue debt.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and internal sales/account managers.
  • Investigate and resolve invoice and payment discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Regularly report on aged debt and cash collection forecasts to senior management.
  • Lead the month-end closing process related to receivables and bad debt provision.
  • Collaborate with the sales and logistics teams to ensure credit control policies align with business operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of communications with customers and follow up on payment plans or disputes.
  • Supervise or mentor junior credit control staff as required.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience (7+ years) in credit control, with at least 2 years in a senior role.
  • Prior experience in the building materials, construction supply, or related sector is essential.
  • Strong understanding of credit risk management, financial statements, and commercial terms.
  • Proficient in ERP/accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Sage, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations around credit and debt collection.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AAT / CICM qualification or equivalent (or working towards).
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, B2B environment.
  • Familiarity with construction contract terms and payment cycles.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED12,000.00 - AED15,000.00 per month
