Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, optimize, and secure our organization’s databases. The ideal candidate will ensure high availability, performance, and integrity of our data systems while implementing best practices for database administration. Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB).
  • Monitor database performance, optimize queries, and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and speed.
  • Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to safeguard critical data.
  • Manage database security, including access controls, encryption, and compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Perform database tuning, indexing, and partitioning to enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate with developers to design efficient database schemas and optimize SQL queries.
  • Automate routine tasks (backups, maintenance, monitoring) using scripts and tools.
  • Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and migrations with minimal downtime.
  • Document database architectures, policies, and procedures.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of RDBMS (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle) and/or NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra).
  • Proficiency in SQL query optimization, performance tuning, and indexing.
  • Experience with backup & recovery tools and disaster recovery planning.
  • Familiarity with cloud databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL) is a plus.
  • Understanding of data security best practices and compliance standards.
  • Scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell) for automation.
  • Knowledge of database monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Datadog, Prometheus).
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, or AWS Certified Database – Specialty.
  • Experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark) or data warehousing (Snowflake, Redshift).
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) for database deployments.

Job Location: WEBDOC Head Office, Bahria Town Phase 7, Islamabad

Residents of DHA/Bahria/surrounding areas will be preferred.
