Job Description

Job Summary:

The Interior Fit-out Accountant will be responsible for managing and overseeing all financial activities related to interior fit-out projects. This includes budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The ideal candidate should have at least four years of relevant experience in accounting, preferably within the construction or interior design industry.

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced and qualified Accountant with expertise in Contracting and relevant qualifications such as CA (Chartered Accountant) or ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants). The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a detailed understanding of financial reporting, and hands-on experience in the contracting industry. This role is essential to ensure accurate financial record-keeping and compliance with all tax and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting & Compliance:
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) in line with IFRS or other relevant accounting standards.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of statutory filings, including VAT, income tax returns, and other regulatory compliance matters.
  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes, ensuring all transactions are recorded and reconciled.
  • Contracting and Project Accounting:
  • Manage contract billing and payments for clients, including tracking cost reports, forecasting, and ensuring profitability.
  • Analyze contract costs, project progress, and ensure adherence to budget and timelines.
  • Work closely with project managers to provide financial insights and budgeting support throughout project lifecycles.
  • Maintain contract and project profitability analysis, including revenue recognition and cost allocation.
  • Financial Analysis & Budgeting:
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Analyze variances between actual financial performance and forecasts/budgets, and provide recommendations.
  • Prepare financial models and scenario analysis to support business decision-making.
  • Tax and Regulatory Compliance:
  • Oversee tax planning and compliance for the company, ensuring all tax obligations (corporate tax, VAT, PAYE, etc.) are met on time.
  • Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies, managing the audit process and ensuring all financial activities comply with statutory requirements.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable Management:
  • Manage accounts payable/receivable processes, ensuring timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections.
  • Perform reconciliations of vendor and client accounts, resolving any discrepancies.
  • Internal Controls & Process Improvement:
  • Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
  • Identify areas for process improvements in financial operations and lead initiatives for greater efficiency.
  • Contracting Field Experience:
  • Demonstrated ability to manage contracts and projects, particularly within the contracting or construction sectors.
  • Ensure accurate job costing and work in progress (WIP) reporting.
  • Analyze subcontractor costs and manage their billing and payment schedules.
  • Team Collaboration & Reporting:
  • Work closely with senior management and other departments to ensure financial transparency and support operational goals.
  • Provide regular financial reports and insights to stakeholders, including detailed analysis of contract performance.
