Job Description

Role Purpose:

To design high/low level Radio Access Network infrastructure related to enterprise business unit architectures, optimizing performance, capacity, and coverage while ensuring scalability, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with emerging technologies and industry standards and Customer Experience.


Position Information:


Title: Senior Proficient, RAN Architecture Designs

Minimum role requirements:

  • Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • Experience: A minimum of 8 years of experience



Key Accountabilities:

  1. Review and support the optimization of high-level reports to enhance customer experience in network designs.
  2. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of 2G, 3G, 4G LTE, and 5G network architectures, protocols, and standards.
  3. Lead RAN planning and design activities, developing detailed radio network designs (site selection, RF parameters, antenna configurations, power requirements) for 4G and 5G, ensuring optimal coverage, capacity, and performance.
  4. Collaborate with Huawei and Ericsson to define hardware/software configurations, design specifications, and implementation plans, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  5. Conduct RAN traffic dimensioning based on current traffic and growth forecasts to ensure scalable and cost-effective network solutions for enterprise customers.
  6. Integrate new technologies, such as Single RAN, Massive MIMO, beamforming, Carrier Aggregation (CA), and Cloud-RAN (C-RAN), into network designs in partnership with Huawei and Ericsson.
  7. Provide expert-level troubleshooting and problem-solving for resolving complex RAN-related issues, including call drops, handover failures, and other performance degradations in 4G/5G enterprise networks.
  8. Apply knowledge of 3GPP standards (Rel. 15 and Rel. 16) and their relevance to LTE and 5G network deployments.
  9. Utilize expertise in Cloud-RAN, Single RAN, and virtualization technologies for 5G network optimization.
  10. Stay updated on emerging technologies such as Open RAN, network virtualization, URLCC, low latency, Lora, Massive MIMO, eMBB, mMTC, beamforming, and network slicing.
  11. Apply knowledge of radio frequency and spectrum management to optimize network performance.
  12. Collaborate across departments (transport, mobile access design, core, fiber, finance, EBU, and operations) to ensure seamless integration of RAN designs into the overall network architecture.
  13. Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for network enhancements at customer sites.
  14. Manage multiple RAN design projects, ensuring timely delivery and coordination with diverse stakeholders.
  15. Develop technical proposals to support strategic customer engagements independently.
  16. Support the Sales team throughout the sales cycle to close deals and meet Sales and Revenue KPIs.
  17. Interact with customer technical and network teams to qualify leads, assess needs, and scope projects.
  18. Capture and document customer requirements, designing technical solutions (both standard and complex) tailored to their needs.
  19. Develop cost-effective, innovative solutions that enhance customer value, competitive positioning, and sales win rates.
  20. Lead technical clarification sessions and presentations with customers after proposal submissions.
  21. Coordinate with internal teams (EBU, ICT, Omantel) to manage business cases, Capex, and Opex processes.
  22. Drive the creation of techno-commercial submissions for tenders and bids.
  23. Develop new solutions/services by working with technology/product partners and alliances.
  24. Collaborate with subsidiaries, joint ventures, technology/product partners, OEMs, and system integrators to create a strong value proposition for the business.
  25. Lead strategic discussions and proof-of-concept (POC) initiatives within EBU/ICT and customer/partner ecosystems to support winning deals.
  26. Utilize RAN design, optimization, and fiber design tools to enhance network design efficiency.
  27. Assist in developing optimization solutions to elevate customer experience in both fixed and mobile domains.
  28. Support the upgrade of existing solutions to meet evolving optimization and customer experience needs.
  29. Develop and execute plans to maximize the potential of existing Omantel platforms.
  30. Lead initiatives utilizing cutting-edge technologies to automate and digitalize workflows, improving solution delivery.
