Job Description

Job Overview

The Head of Planning & Procurement is responsible for leading the planning and procurement functions, ensuring a balanced supply of goods to meet demand while optimizing costs and inventory levels. This role will oversee demand forecasting, inventory planning, supply planning and supplier management to support the business's growth and profitability objectives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Demand Planning & Forecasting: Lead the demand planning process to accurately forecast product needs across all channels. Utilize data analytics and insights from other teams (Campaign management, Category, B2B, Retail, E-commerce) to drive accurate and timely demand forecasts.
  • Demand and Supply Planning System: Oversee and continuously improve the use of Slim4 to support accurate forecasting and efficient inventory management. Ensure the system is fully leveraged to analyze sales history and market trends, enabling the planning team to make timely and informed decisions. Drive system utilization across the team by providing guidance, training, and support, while also being capable of stepping in hands-on when needed to troubleshoot issues or refine planning logic.
  • S&OP Coordination: Lead the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process, ensuring alignment between sales forecasts, marketing plans, promotional/campaigns plans, and inventory management. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Category, Retail, E-commerce, B2B, Marketing, Finance, and Operations to balance supply and demand effectively.
  • Inventory Management: Collaborate with the Head of Operations to maintain optimal inventory levels that meet customer demand while minimizing excess and obsolescence. Implement strategies to improve inventory turnover and reduce carrying costs.
  • Procurement Strategy: Lead the procurement team in sourcing and purchasing goods, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier relationships.
  • Performance and KPI Management: Accountable for driving improvements in key supply chain performance indicators, including Product availability, Days Inventory Outstanding (DIO), Gross Margin Return on Inventory (GMROI), Obsolescence and excess stock levels, Service level performance, Inbound shipping and landed cost efficiency
  • Supplier Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers. Monitor supplier performance, negotiate favourable terms, and resolve any issues that may arise. Manage contracts and rebate agreements with suppliers. Ensure that all suppliers comply with company policies and standards.
  • Cost Optimization: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for cost savings in procurement, local/international freight and inventory management. Implement strategies to achieve cost efficiency without compromising quality and service levels.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with supply chain disruptions, such as supplier issues or demand fluctuations. Develop contingency plans to ensure business continuity.
  • Team Leadership & Development : Lead, mentor, and develop a team of demand and supply planning professionals. Foster a collaborative and results-driven environment focused on continuous improvement.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in supply chain planning and procurement, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong experience in demand forecasting, S&OP coordination, inventory planning, and procurement management.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in planning and procurement software systems (Slimstock experience preferably)
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
