What You'll Do

The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable DevOps pipelines, containerized environments, and automation solutions to support the continuous integration and delivery needs of Nisum's clients. This role combines technical expertise, automation skills, and a focus on operational excellence to ensure the smooth deployment and maintenance of modern cloud-native applications.

DevOps & Automation

  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins (including Groovy scripting, plugins, and dynamic agents).
  • Develop and maintain shell/Python/Bash scripts to automate deployment and operational tasks.
  • Manage and optimize containerized environments using Docker, and orchestrate deployments using Kubernetes (Helm, secrets management, scaling, etc.).
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Ansible (Playbooks, Roles, Inventory Management).

Systems Administration

  • Administer and troubleshoot Linux systems with a focus on performance tuning, configuration, and security.
  • Monitor, maintain, and optimize infrastructure for reliability and scalability.

Event Streaming & Messaging

  • Manage and support Kafka clusters, including brokers, topics, partitions, and producers/consumers.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to event-driven architectures and optimize Kafka usage for reliability and throughput.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate with development, QA, and infrastructure teams to drive DevOps culture and best practices.
  • Maintain documentation of deployment processes, CI/CD workflows, and infrastructure architecture.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency.

What You Know

  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a related role.
  • Linux Administration: Intermediate-level expertise in system configuration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Scripting: Proficiency in Bash, Python, or Shell scripting for automation tasks.
  • Programming Concepts: Familiarity with software development principles and basic programming.
  • Containerization & Orchestration:
  • Docker (Intermediate+): Image creation, Docker Compose, networking.
  • Kubernetes (Intermediate+): Deployments, Helm charts, secrets management, and scaling.
  • CI/CD Expertise: Strong knowledge of pipeline design and management; hands-on experience with Jenkins is preferred.
  • Configuration Management & Automation: Hands-on experience with Ansible (YAML, Playbooks, Roles, Inventory Management).
  • Kafka: Clear understanding of Kafka architecture, event streaming, and cluster management.
  • Version Control: Proficient in Git (GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket).

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
