Position Sports Center Staff
Department Student Affairs

Reports to Associate Vice President, Enrollment & Registration

General Description

The Sports Center Staff is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of the Sports Center.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs and/or assists other recreation assistants or specialists in the operation and maintenance of indoor and/or outdoor recreational facilities.
  • Ensure only authorized patrons use the facility and equipment.
  • Maintains reservation system for sports, courts, and fields; issues and receives equipment.
  • Prepares recreation center students days scheduled.
  • Maintains indoor/outdoor facilities.
  • Ensures check-out items are clean and in good repair; inventories, restocks, and displays checkout items.
  • Provides equipment manager with a list or reorder needs.
  • Performs opening and closing duties and daily cleaning on equipment reporting damage to the director.
  • Monitors facility usage ensuring that all policies are followed.
  • Ensures reserved areas are ready for student use;
  • Ensures lockers are clean and operable.
  • Prepares athletic fields and playing surfaces for daily and seasonal competition.
  • Assists students by explaining equipment functions and features available.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Supervises recreation and fitness programs and activities.
  • Plans and implements a variety of recreational programs, educational clubs, sports teams and clinics, outdoor programs, and special events.
  • Creates and distributes schedules and program flyers.
  • Prepares for scheduled events.
  • Sets-up meeting rooms and sports courts.
  • Decorates for special events.
  • Prepares our teams for SUSF tournament.
  • Attends meetings.
  • Assists students
  • Answers the telephone and email for any recreation inquires.
  • Prepares reports and correspondence.
  • Enters computer data, etc.
  • Collects data at recreation facilities.
  • Prepares and presents facility and activity reports.
  • Purchases supplies according to established budgetary parameters.
  • Repairs equipment.
  • Ensures proper maintenance and storage of all equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains inventory records.
  • Prepares and develops and implementing recreation center budget.
  • Ensures departmental compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
  • Operates or uses various equipment and supplies in order to complete work assignments.
  • Communicates with department head, other employees, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.

Qualifications & Experience (Required)

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree related to this field.
  • At least 2-5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Ability to work in team-based, collaborative settings.
  • Willingness to take initiative and work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Suitable candidates are expected to have excellent command of the English Language and should be familiar with technology infused academic environments.
