Job Description

Title: Assistant Vice President, Domestic Credit

Location: Doha, Qatar


Our client, a leading institution in the banking sector, is seeking an AVP – Domestic Credit to join their Group Risk division, supporting strategic credit oversight and risk management across domestic and group entities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth evaluation of corporate and institutional credit proposals, ensuring alignment with internal credit risk strategy, regulatory requirements, and return expectations.
  • Perform rigorous financial analysis, including historical and projected financials, stress testing, and feasibility studies to assess borrower and project viability.
  • Structure credit facilities in coordination with business units, ensuring adequate risk mitigation through appropriate covenants, collateral, and repayment sources.
  • Participate in the ongoing refinement of credit policies, procedures, and approval frameworks to align with best practices and evolving market standards.
  • Coordinate with domestic and international branches, subsidiaries, and treasury to assess non-retail credit exposures and ensure timely credit assessments.
  • Monitor credit portfolio performance, enforce compliance with approved terms and covenants, and recommend remedial action when risk thresholds are breached.
  • Assist in determining obligor risk ratings using internal models (e.g., Moody’s), ensuring accurate reflection of the borrower’s risk profile.
  • Stay abreast of relevant regulatory developments (QCB, Basel, etc.) and ensure dissemination of updates to appropriate stakeholders within the bank.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field; MBA or equivalent banking certification preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in corporate credit or risk analysis within a major bank or financial institution.
  • Expertise in credit structuring, financial modeling, due diligence, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong understanding of credit risk methodologies, economic/industry analysis, and international regulatory frameworks (Basel II/III).
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and financial analysis tools; strong report writing and presentation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Arabic an advantage
