Our standard working hours are 8.30am to 5.30pm (flexibility may be required from time to time)

Working week: Sunday to Thursday

Full time: 40 hours per week

Purpose of the role:

The Firm has embarked upon a period of strategic international growth which includes the expansion of its Middle East footprint. As part of that strategy the firm has recently launched in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through a new office in Riyadh.

The Riyadh office complements the existing Middle East offices located within Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Doha.

The Riyadh office will assist with the Firm’s plans to create a market leading business in the Kingdom through a combination of technical excellence, innovative service delivery and sector focus to become the law firm of choice for clients doing business in the region.

We are recruiting Senior Accountant who will support the Middle East Regional Finance Operations Manager and the Head of Office embed the finance function and strong financial hygiene practices within the office. The Senior Accountant will assist with the smooth running of the financial operations and support business growth. The role is diverse and encompasses all aspects of finance and is very hands on in nature. The candidate sought would need to be comfortable to work independently and to collaborate with finance teams based across multiple locations.

Candidate Overview

We are looking for candidates who ideally hold the following skills and experience:

Managing the day to day accounting, financial and treasury transactions for the Riyadh office, which includes:

  • Processing and management of e-invoicing under ZATCA regulations.
  • Managing accounting transactions, including processing of vendor invoices, reconciling payments and resolving any discrepancies to facilitate a timely month-end closing.
  • Ensure that office trial balance is complete, reconciled and maintained in accordance with the firm’s policies and procedures.
  • Work in collaboration with the central treasury team to manage the office cash/ liquidity position to ensure sufficient funds are available for operational needs and to assist with payments across various local portals.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and intercompany transactions
  • Be the ‘go-to’ person for any questions on KSA financial related matters. As a native Arabic speaker will be required to assist with any local financial applications or ad hoc financial document translations from Arabic to English
  • Keep abreast of any local financial topical issues and cascade topics of interest to relevant stakeholders.
  • Liaise with the Accountant of a local firm we operate in collaboration with. Ensuring prompt and timely billing between the two firms.
  • Work alongside the Regional Business Manager to provide relevant financial insight and reporting to assist the Head of Office/ partner management team with both the day to day running and the strategic growth of the office. This includes issuing ad hoc financial reports as required.
  • Support the FR&C and FR&A teams with the annual budgeting and forecasting exercise in line with the office business and strategic plans.
  • Support the FR&C team and the Group Financial Controller with the group annual audit requirements and local annual statutory filings.
  • Work closely with the central partnership affairs team to support with any partner invoicing and payments.
  • Support with all ZATCA filings including the monthly and annual VAT and WHT returns.

Qualifications/ Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or a related discipline is required.
  • Professional accounting qualifications is highly sought.
  • 5 to 7 years’ experience gained within a large professional services organisation or a law firm undertaking a broad finance role.
  • Demonstrable experience of embedding strong financial hygiene practices within a new business environment.
  • Solid understanding of IFRS reporting, KSA tax law and treasury principles.
  • Good working knowledge of KSA VAT regulations, concepts and principles with the ability to apply this knowledge in practice.
  • Knowledge of Aderant (or Elite) would be advantageous.
