Job Description
Overview
Responsible for developing strategies to improve operational effectiveness and reduce costs within GAL base Supply Chain. Responsible for providing leadership and direction to management staff and maximizing workforce utilization while promoting GAL values.
Will also be responsible for:
1. Manages section’s strategic and operational objectives (KPIs) that are aligned with and drive the achievement of GAL’s strategy and objectives.
2. Designs strategies and a Supply Chain for future effectiveness in the areas of Logistics, Freight, Warehouse, Facilities & Fleet & guides the respective teams to effectively capture and identify opportunities.
3. Tasked to upgrade the skill sets, effectiveness, and efficiency within the department, through people development, process improvement and expansion of technology.
4. Ensures the management, reporting, monitoring and improvement of the KPIs of the department to ensure performance.
5. Develops, directs and implements the GAL logistics strategies by developing key partnerships with 3rd party providers that will minimize expenses while maximizing service to the stores and customers across all bases.
6. Optimizes end-to-end logistics process and operations.
7. Schedules and organizes the annual inventory checks.
8. Collaborates extensively with customers, through identification of waste, and implements opportunities for shared cost savings.
9. Defines the strategic direction and ensures the day to day achievement of the supply chain deliverables.
10. Provides training and development programs designed to improve, enhance and/or maintain or exceed performance standards.
11. Works closely with the Procurement and the Business Integration Manager to develop and implement long-term strategy for supply chain improvement and deliver improved operating results.
12. Supports strategic negotiations to maintain current and grow new long-term business goals for GAL.
13. Complies with all regulations and GAL Policies and Procedures with respect to, but not limited to, ITAR, OSHA, Export control and any other international and local authorities.
14. Optimizes the warehouses/ stores usage and ensure compliance with safety regulations
15. Ensures Quality Assurance of logistics at SCM.
16. Participates and leads GAL SCM Committees handling and resolving serious complaints.
17. Effectively communicates and provides high-level updates to top management.
18. Provide technical advice and guidance on all matters pertaining to Logistics functions that may influence the product or service delivered.
19. Manages the day-to-day operations of the section to ensure that work processes are implemented as designed and comply with established policies, processes and procedures.
20. Acts as function representative within Senior Management Team and ensure representation of department at inter-department meetings when required.
21. Directs and manage the activities and work of direct reports to ensure that all work within a specific team is completed to the required standards and in line with GAL operating policies and procedures.
22. Supports and develop opportunities to encourage knowledge and skill transfer to the UAE National workforce.
23. Oversees performance management by establishing SMART objectives to motivate and enhance personnel development through effective formal and informal feedback.
24. Prepares and manages the Logistics section’s budget and monitor its financial performance versus the budget so that the department is aware of forecast cost and revenues, areas of underperformance are identified and opportunities to improve performance are capitalized upon.
25. Sponsors opportunities to take part in change initiatives, programs and projects that reflect international best practices and changes in the competitive environment.
26. Recommends improvements to departmental policy and directs the implementation of procedures and controls covering all areas of Procurement so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to customers.
27. Ensures direct reports adhere to and support all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls, promoting employee safety, legislative compliance and to promote a responsible environmental attitude.
28. Implements the day-to-day operations assigned for the Logistics section to ensure compliance with the established standards and procedures.
29. Oversees that the statements and reports are timely and accurate to meet GAL and departmental requirements, policies and standards.
30. Identifies opportunities to take part in change initiatives, programs and projects that reflect international best practice and changes in the competitive environment.
31. Stimulates all stakeholders to identify non-compliance incidents and ensures improvement opportunities are identified in audit reports.
32. Ensures that accountabilities for the implementation of improvement opportunities are completed within the assigned deadlines.
33. Performs other related duties or assignments as directed.
34. Educates and continuously guides the staff on how to comply with rules and regulations; and on the formalities and procedures followed in carrying out planned and un-planned department tasks.
35. Setting performance goals with clear deadlines for the direct reports in ways that comply with company's plans and vision.
36. Responsible for oversight guidance and counseling and all administrative duties such as appraisals, scheduling, attendance, etc. of all employees assigned to department.
37. Responsible for the scheduling; controlling work hours and overtime if applicable.
38. Support functional and cross-functional collaboration with internal team members in response to business requirements.
39. Organizing workflow and ensuring that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks.
40. May delegate authority as necessary but maintains responsibility of all issues pertaining to the section/ department.
41. Assists team members with technical issues or advanced problems with given assignments.
42. Supports and develops opportunities to encourage knowledge and skill transfer to the UAE National workforce.
43. Manage, coach and develop a high performing department team that meets agreed objectives and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements.
44. Set departments objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of staff.

Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or equivalent.
Advanced Degree MBA/Maters desirable.
Advanced Degree MBA/Maters desirable.
Experience
Minimum 10 – 12 years of experience in an aerospace maintenance and aircraft operating environment, preferably in military, of which at least 5 years in a similar position in Logistics & Supply Chain.
