Job Description and Requirements

Job Summary:

Oversee the overall activities of the department, including review of testing reports, personnel supervision, project acquisition, client maintenance, and technical support. Responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring environmental strategies that promote sustainable development. And lead the Department team and provide training to staff at all levels.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Managerial Duties:

  • Develop a long-term strategy and set targets to match the vision of ACES.
  • Identify and take advantage of opportunities and expand business by creating innovative services or markets.
  • Build confidence among employees and create positive feelings and a culture of belonging.
  • Create and develop change management strategies.
  • Inspire, influence, and guide others to participate in a common effort.
  • Delegate and empower subordinates.
  • Oversee the establishment and implementation of Department policies, goals, quality objectives, and procedures.
  • Ensure that the new operation plans, policies, procedures, and transition/migration plans for the Department are consistent with the overall goals and objectives of ACES.
  • Develop departmental business plans that are in line with ACES strategies and objectives.
  • Monitor costs and resources in day-to-day activities.
  • Hold responsibility for department staffing and budgeting projections.

Technical Duties:

  • Coordinate with the Branch Manager for contractual matters related to the Environmental Department.
  • Coordinate and liaise with the client’s representative/s on contractual and technical matters related to the Environmental Department.
  • Ensure customer’s orders and laboratory tests are conducted according to contract and per standard test methods and specifications.
  • Investigate existing and potential non-conformities in activities, and devise and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Follow-up on the calibration and maintenance of equipment.
  • Ensure implementation of the safety regulations and protection measures.
  • Review and approve materials testing reports produced within the Laboratories of the Environmental Department to ensure that tests are carried out as per the stated test methods and in accordance with agreed customer requirements.
  • Conduct development research to upgrade the technical capabilities of the Department and submit the recommendations to the management.
  • Provide customers with technical consultations when necessary and follow up with potential clients.
  • Offer technical support to technicians.
  • Follow-up on accreditation.
  • Any duties or responsibilities assigned by the management

Reporting To:

This position will directly report to the Group Environmental and Chemical line Manager.

Direct Reports:

Technical and Operational Section Heads, Sr. Chemist/Chemist, Sr. Microbiologist/ Microbiologist. And Technicians.

Job Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or any related field, Master is preferable.
  • 8 -12 years of experience in the field of Environmental Engineering with at least 3 years of experience in a supervisory position.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Proficient in Measurement, Basic Technical and Laboratory Skills
  • Expert in the Application of Fundamentals of Environmental/ Chemistry Science
  • Expert in the Application of Fundamentals of Microbiology Science
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English & and Arabic orally and in writing.
  • Requires strong interpersonal skills in communication.
  • Strong Ability to prepare, analyze, and interpret complex data.
  • Strong Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Teamwork skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong ethics and reliability
