Job Purpose:

To lead and oversee the legal affairs and initiatives of QRDI by providing legal guidance, managing governance, risks, ensuring compliance, and supporting QRDI's strategic goals

Key Result Areas:

• Develop and implement a legal strategy that aligns with the organization's RDI objectives and supports innovation while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Provide proactive legal advice and guidance to RDI teams, ensuring that RDI initiatives are legally sound and aligned with the organization's mission
• Monitor and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to RDI, including intellectual property laws, data privacy, technology transfer, and other relevant regulations.
• Advise on legal compliance frameworks and policies to mitigate risks associated with RDI activities.
• Oversee the management and protection of intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets associated with RDI projects and innovations.
• Collaborate with RDI teams to strategize and implement intellectual property plans that safeguard the organization's innovations and foster growth.
• Lead contract negotiations and drafting of agreements related to RDI, ensuring that the organization's interests are protected, risks are minimized, and compliance requirements are met.
• Develop risk assessment processes and strategies to identify and mitigate legal risks associated with RDI projects and collaborations
• Collaborate closely with RDI leaders, cross-functional teams, and external partners to align legal strategies with RDI goals and objectives.
• Interface with external stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and research institutions, to represent the organization's legal interests and build strategic partnerships.
• Ensure governance structures and processes are in place to support effective risk oversight, strategic decision-making, and regulatory compliance.
• Ensure the organization adheres to established governance frameworks, including compliance with articles of association, bylaws, and board charters. Participate in the development and implementation of RDI-related policies, procedures, and guidelines that ensure legal compliance and ethical conduct.
• Conduct training and awareness programs to educate RDI teams on legal matters, policies, and compliance requirements
• Other reasonable tasks as assigned by supervisor

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• Master’s degree in law from an accredited law school and 8 years of relevant full- time work experience in Law, preferably in RDI funding organization
• Admission to the Bar in the relevant jurisdiction
• Exceptional understanding of applicable laws, regulations, and industry best practices
• Excellent Communication skills
• Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports and communications and to articulate ideas clearly and concisely; Arabic proficiency is required.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications
