Job Description
The Truck Lashing Inspector is responsible for verifying the safe, secure, and compliant lashing and securing of goods on trucks for transportation. This includes inspecting the type, placement, and condition of lashing materials, ensuring conformance with regulatory standards, client requirements, and best practices for all types of cargo, including general, fragile, hazardous, oversized, or high-value products.
- Inspect and verify the proper lashing and securing of goods on trucks before dispatch.
- Check the condition, adequacy, and placement of lashing materials (e.g., straps, chains, tensioners, dunnage).
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations, transport guidelines and client-specific instructions.
- Document lashing inspection results, take photographs, and issue lashing inspection release notes as required.
- Identify non-compliance or unsafe practices and report immediately to the proponent for corrective action.
- Assist in risk assessments and advise on best practices for specific cargo types (e.g., fragile, perishable, dangerous goods).
- Coordinate with drivers, loaders, and logistics teams to ensure smooth and safe cargo handling operations.
- Conduct re-inspections if cargo is shifted, reloaded, or modified prior to transport.
- Participate in toolbox talks and safety briefings related to transport safety and load securing.
- Maintain accurate logs, reports, and documentation for traceability and audit purposes
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (technical education in logistics or safety is a plus).
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in cargo lashing, rigging, or load securing inspection.
- Knowledge of international and local transport regulations related to load safety.
- Familiarity with different types of cargo (industrial, consumer, chemicals, construction materials, etc.).
- Ability to work in field environments including ports, warehouses, and construction site
