Job Description

Summary:

The QHSE Supervisor plays a key role in supporting the implementation and maintenance of Aljazeera Shipping’s Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE) Management System across the company’s marine and logistics operations. The role focuses on ensuring safe working practices, regulatory compliance, and promoting a culture of safety across vessels, workshops, and job sites.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and enforce QHSE practices on vessels, workyards, and operational sites.
  • Assist in implementing ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and other relevant standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, toolbox talks, and safety drills.
  • Monitor QHSE compliance and coordinate corrective actions as needed.
  • Support and guide teams during risk assessments, job safety analysis (JSA), and permit-to-work (PTW) processes.
  • Record and track QHSE incidents, near misses, and non-conformities using internal reporting systems.
  • Assist in investigation of incidents and follow-up actions under the direction of the QHSE Manager.
  • Promote safety awareness through training sessions, visual materials, and safety campaigns.
  • Ensure availability and proper use of PPE and safety equipment.
  • Maintain organized QHSE documentation (digital and hard copy).
  • Liaise with external auditors, clients, and local regulatory bodies as required.

Qualifications / Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Marine Engineering, or related field.
  • NEBOSH International General Certificate is mandatory.
  • 3–5 years of QHSE experience in marine, offshore, or industrial sectors.
  • Knowledge of IMO, ISM, ISPS, and marine safety standards.
  • Familiarity with Bahrain's HSE laws and port regulations.
  • Valid Bahrain light vehicle driving license.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.
  • Must be fluent in English; Arabic is an advantage.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Must be able to regularly access ships, docks, and outdoor facilities.
  • Will require standing, walking, climbing, and occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs).
  • Work may involve exposure to heat, noise, and maritime conditions.
  • Availability after hours, weekends, or holidays may be required to support vessel operations and emergencies.
