We currently have an opening for an Applications Systems Analyst I


The primary purpose of the Applications Systems Analyst position is to analyze, design, code, test, and implement complex and advanced computer application systems, as well as maintain existing systems. This position will also lead projects related to business functions of the International Registration Plan (IRP) and Motor Carrier (MC) applications.


Duties include, but are not limited, to:

  • Customer relations to ensure a partner relationship between IT, service providers and the client. Responsibilities include working with customers to develop system requirements, establishing release schedules and tracking work against the schedule, attending monthly client meetings, tracking and reporting results against the Service Level Agreement, and ensuring effective communication between the customers and the technical team
  • Team support to ensure that IT personnel can effectively work as a team and to generate positive team synergy. Responsibilities include leading weekly technical team meetings, assigning and tracking the work of team members, and assisting team members with technical problems
  • Highly complex system development and maintenance as required by changes in policy, laws, and regulations of the Department of Transportation, State and Federal Government, and requests from clients
  • Manage projects that require directing the work of others
  • Production Support of systems to ensure that existing systems are effectively supporting the business function and standards defined by the organization

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies


To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess
ALL of the following:

  • Demonstrated ability to investigate, research, and implement new technologies
  • Demonstrated experience with application software development and /or programming techniques using languages/databases/servers such as COBOL, CICS, JCL, and DB2
  • Demonstrated ability in reviewing and translating specifications to write programs to produce desired results


The following Management Preferences are not required, but applicants that possess these skills are preferred:

  • Demonstrated experience in independently managing project timelines, resources, staff, and implementation efforts
  • Demonstrated experience with Web Services, Endevor, and IBM Debug

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution

OR

Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in business application consulting or development

OR

High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience in business application consulting or development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

HYBRID/FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULES:
