Job Responsibilities

This position is located in The Office of Human Resources, Richland County.

Are you the One? We are looking for a Human Resources Assistant who will serve as the receptionist and backup for the file room, for the Office of Human Resources, which includes assisting visitors and callers and any administrative support work that may be needed by the staff in the Office of Human Resources. Serves as backup for the file room, updating employees' personnel, medical and other files.
  • Serves as the receptionist for the Human Resources area.
  • Backup for a comprehensive personnel-filing system up to, but not limited to, medical files, leave, EPMS documents, position descriptions, personnel action documents, employee information, employee discipline, special employee acknowledgments to ensure a completed copy of the acknowledgment is secured in various files for ease of accessibility.
  • Serves as an assistant for the department to help in all areas as needed. Oversee the training and conference room calendars, sets up travel plans for Employee Relations issues, set up shopping carts for vendor payments.
  • Update and maintain the Agency organizational chart.
  • Completes other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A High School Diploma and clerical or administrative experience in a human resource setting.

Additional Requirements

  • Occasional overnight travel.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Sitting or standing for long periods of time.
  • Lifting requirements: 20 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of office policies, practices and procedures with ability to utilize office automation and communication systems to interpret and apply policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to handle multiple administrative tasks simultaneously.
  • Must maintain the strictest standards of confidentiality as it relates to personnel actions or activities occurring in Human Resources.
  • Under limited supervision, employee must exercise sound judgment and tact when dealing with visitors, applicants, and employees.
  • Employee should have strong verbal and written communication skills and must exhibit courteous and conscientious qualities.
  • Open to cultural/demographic diversity.
  • Employee must have basic computer and math skills.
  • Must have the ability to make and keep schedules.
  • Employee must have good organizational skills.
  • Employee must be capable of using standard office equipment.
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
