Commercial / Procurement Manager - High Rise Building Project

About the Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Commercial / Procurement Manager to oversee all commercial and procurement activities for a landmark 65-floor high-rise building project in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement comprehensive commercial and procurement strategies that align with project goals and ensure cost-effectiveness.
• Manage the entire procurement lifecycle, from initial needs assessment and supplier selection to contract negotiation and performance monitoring.
• Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports, identifying and mitigating potential risks.
• Negotiate favorable contract terms and conditions with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices.
• Oversee the preparation of bid packages, evaluation of proposals, and award of contracts.
• Manage and mentor a team of procurement professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure their success.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, and suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, and ethical requirements.
• Monitor market trends and identify opportunities to improve procurement efficiency and reduce costs.
• Manage claims and disputes effectively.
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting on all commercial and procurement activities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration).
• Preferred: Post-Graduate Studies and Advanced professional Advanced Certificates in Commercial Management, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related area.
• Experience: +15 years of experience in commercial management and procurement, with a proven track record of success in large-scale construction projects.
• Mandatory Experience: Experience in at least two high-rise building projects of similar scale.
• Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement processes, and cost control principles.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
• Proficiency in relevant software applications (e.g., ERP systems, procurement software).
• Knowledge of international procurement practices and regulations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working in Africa is an advantage.
