About the Project:

IMC with the financial support from Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) is implementing a project ‘Psycho-Social Support integrated with Livelihoods & Youth Empowerment (Initiative) for Afghan Refugees and Host Communities in KP Phase-II. The overall objective of the project is to enhance the psychosocial well-being of Afghan Refugees and host communities through the integration of psychosocial support with livelihoods opportunities and the youth empowerment in KP province of Pakistan. The Mental Health Consultant, under the project will support to carry out following listed role and responsibilities:

Major Responsibilities:

  • Support national technical advisor to undertake situation analysis of mental health service delivery including health facilities, human resources, capacity, legislative procedures etc at provincial levels.
  • Identify core thematic areas for developing mental healthcare in Pakistan.
  • Support to formulate broad policy framework and strategic planning for mental healthcare.
  • Support implementation of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) service model in the provinces and Special Areas, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Undertake review of all the isolated, fragmented, and parallel initiatives nation-wide in the field of mental health and psychosocial support both at public and private sector.
  • Sensitize key mental health stakeholders (nationally and internationally) and assess their interests, expertise, readiness to collaborate and invest in the mental health agenda in Pakistan by developing training / capacity building plans.
  • Identify existing opportunities that should be prioritized and funded by government, public or private sector or international development partners.
  • Explore strategies to effectively engage Pakistani diaspora to utilize their technical expertise and opportunities for institutional collaboration.
  • Through assessments support in Identifying information gaps, priority research, intervention needs and future opportunities.
  • Build consensus by highlighting needs and opportunities, prioritize next steps and support the provinces to formulate a comprehensive action plan.
  • Engage key mental health stakeholders and to set up MHPSS coordinating mechanism (Technical working groups) at the provinces and Special Areas.
  • Set up regular coordination meetings with line ministries, donors, and other stakeholders.

Minimum Qualification / Experience:

  • Masters in Psychology, Social Sciences, University Degree in the relevant field.
  • 5 Years of experience with at least 03 years of documented experience in developing, facilitating/delivering interactive/participatory training sessions in psychological aid.
