Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Global Key Account Manager will be responsible for nurturing and growing relationships with our key clients across the globe. This role is pivotal to our organisation's growth strategy, focusing on client retention, expansion, and delivering top-notch logistics solutions. The successful candidate will be an expert in the logistics industry, have a deep understanding of client needs, and possess exceptional relationship-building skills.

Key Accountabilities:

Client Relationship Management:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their business needs and challenges.
  • Act as the primary point of contact and advocate for clients within the organization.
  • Account Growth and Expansion:
  • Identify account growth and expansion opportunities, collaborating with internal teams to develop solutions.
  • Ensure that clients know all the services and capabilities our company can offer (the toolbox) to meet their evolving logistics requirements and the possibilities of connecting the various capabilities of the toolboxes to offer fit-for-purpose solutions

Strategic Planning:

  • Create and implement strategic account plans for key clients, aligning their objectives with our logistics solutions.
  • Analyze market trends and industry developments to identify opportunities for client engagement.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their business needs and challenges.
  • Act as the primary point of contact and advocate for clients within the organisation. Advise capability sales to increase probability of closing opportunities
  • This includes effective customer relationship management and customer retention, for instance leading:
  • Global Key Account Plans
  • Quarterly Business Reviews,
  • Service Level Agreements,
  • Continuous improvement initiatives,
  • KPI development and management,
  • Contract renewals,
  • Cross-selling and upselling efforts
  • Selling new solutions, for instance: Produce packing stations, Seafood / Meat white room services, Short Sea loops, Value Added Services, Cold storage, Distribution

General

  • Responsible for the management and leadership of an engaged team, promoting collaboration and ensuring that each is developed and evaluated against goals and objectives which are aligned, specific, measurable, attainable yet challenging, realistic and time-bound.
  • Act as an ambassador for DP World at all times when working; promoting and demonstrating positive behaviours in harmony with DP World’s Principles, values and culture; ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in all activities; understanding and following DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Current scope of work of commercial proposals includes, but is not limited to:

  • Bulk meat and seafood: Blast freezing, transport and coldstore services for slaughterhouses, fish farms, fish harvesting fleets, fish importers and trading companies
  • Bulk produce: pre-cooling services for crops collected from orchards and farms. produce packing and other Value-Added Services.
  • E-commerce: freezer / chiller / cooler fulfilment for perishables,
  • Quick Service Restaurants: domestic warehouse fulfillment and distribution, with stock ownership by DP World
  • Retail: vendor consolidation and fulfilment for orders placed by the domestic and overseas distribution centers of retailers,
  • Dedicated truck fleets for dairy.

Qualifications, Sills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Highly desirable:

  • Insider knowledge and/or prior interaction with companies in the Produce, Seafood, Meat & proteins, Dairy, Pastry, Retail and Quick Service Restaurant industries. Experience with refrigerated ocean / air / land transport, and cold storage.
  • Prior interaction with solution designers and Property development teams, including the design of packing stations, short sea services, fruit terminals, coldstoresAt least 12 years of experience in food logistics and/or Agrofoodsupply chain management, or a related field.
  • Proven track record in global key account management, with demonstrated client retention and growth success. Prior experience serving Produce, Meat and Seafood customers is an asset.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools (e.g., CRM systems, Excel, logistics software).
  • Willingness to travel as needed to meet with clients and attend industry events.
  • Experience with lean management principles and continuous improvement methodologies is preferred.
