Purpose and Scope of the Job
Performing routine tests in clinical laboratory to provide data required for diagnosis, treatment and follow up of diseases, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of test results.
Main Duties and Responsibilities/Performance Standards

Responsible for running initiation protocols, calibration protocols, bi/tri level-controls on various laboratory analyzers at scheduled time prior to running patient samples
2
Performs daily maintenance of machines and logging in the appropriate logs.
3
Carries duties in all general laboratory sections including biochemistry, hematology, clinical pathology, blood banking, and hormone units.
4
Reconstitutes reagents, loads them to the analyzers and maintains the log for date of opening of new reagents.

Checksthe stock and expiry dates of laboratory reagents.
6
Proper preparation of patient samples and running the test protocols.
7
Validates patient results, after applying the required checks
8
Verifies internal QC by checking Levey Jennings charts.

Runs external proficiency testing samples and shares in investigating causes for unaccepted results.

Prepares SOP for different laboratory processes.

Follows the bloodbank policy and required documentations for receiving and issuing blood and blood products
12
Prepares samples for shipment to outside laboratories for tests not performed locally.

Prepares different types of smears and wet mounts
14
Participates in the departmental and inter-disciplinaryactivities and CME programs.
15
Notifiesthe critical values to the medical staff and documented in special log sheet.

Records different environmental logs (temperature of fridges, freezers and laboratory temperature and humidity).

Responsible to provide patient and family-centered care.

Ensures quality and patient safety practices are followed.

Promotes inclusive health by providing equitable and accessible care to patients and families with special needs.
Qualifications, Competences and Skills
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
Training
1
Training on related accreditation standards, policies and SOPs
2
Training on basic microbiology procedures and techniques.
3
Training on safety procedures.
4
Training on using advanced laboratory techniques and equipment
5
Training on root cause analysis for deviating internal and external quality tests.
6
Basic life support training
Experience
3+ years’ experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Licensure
Bachelor Degree
Language
High proficiency in English language.
Computer Proficiency
Basic computer skills and lab computer system.
