Job Description
Position Overview:
American International University (AIU) is seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator and PL/SQL Developer to manage and optimize the university’s Oracle database environments. This dual-role position requires strong expertise in Oracle database administration, performance tuning, and backup strategies, along with advanced skills in developing and maintaining SQL and PL/SQL code to support both administrative and academic systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain Oracle databases to ensure high availability, security, and optimal performance.
- Perform routine performance tuning, capacity planning, and database health checks.
- Design, implement, and manage backup and recovery strategies using tools such as RMAN and Data Pump.
- Develop and maintain PL/SQL scripts, procedures, and triggers to support business processes and ensure data integrity.
- Automate routine administrative tasks through SQL and PL/SQL scripting.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues to minimize downtime and data loss.
- Monitor database security, manage roles and privileges, and ensure compliance with institutional data governance policies.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and academic IT teams to support patching, upgrades, and integration projects.
- Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation for database configurations, development practices, and operational procedures.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in Oracle Database Administration, including installation, configuration, tuning, and recovery.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL development.
- Strong understanding of Oracle database architecture, security practices, and data lifecycle management.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle tools such as RMAN, Data Pump, and OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager).
- Familiarity with Oracle APEX, Forms, or Reports is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
