Job Title: Technical Team Lead

Location: GTR Dubai Office

Reports To: Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly skilled and versatile Technical Team Lead to manage a cross-functional technical team and oversee end-to-end execution of infrastructure projects. This role requires in-depth expertise across networking, systems administration, database management, and electromechanical systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for client site visits, requirements gathering, technical assessment, and solution design. They will bridge the gap between client expectations and internal technical delivery, ensuring robust, scalable, and secure infrastructure solutions.

Key Responsibilities: Team Leadership & Project Management:

  • Lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary technical team.
  • Manage project schedules, task assignments, resource planning, and quality assurance.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and aligned with client specifications.
  • Prepare and share regular reports and documentation with GTR management and clients.

Client Engagement & Site Visits:

  • Conduct on-site assessments to gather business and technical requirements.
  • Evaluate client infrastructure, networking layouts, and environmental constraints.
  • Prepare comprehensive requirement documents and solution proposals.

Network & System Oversight:

  • Design secure, scalable network architectures.
  • Oversee installation and configuration of servers, operating systems, and virtualization platforms.
  • Ensure high availability, reliability, and security of networks and systems.
  • Respond to incidents and troubleshoot infrastructure issues.
  • Administer and maintain security protocols, audit logs, antivirus updates, and cluster configurations.
  • Knowledge of Cisco firewalls, IPS/IDS, NAC, UTM, routers, VOIP, switches, SUN tape libraries, and backup tools (e.g., Symantec NetBackup, Oracle Secure Backup).

Database & Storage Management:

  • Guide database architecture, backup, and recovery strategies.
  • Ensure performance tuning, data integrity, and high availability.
  • Provide technical support to development teams and enforce coding/data standards.
  • Evaluate Oracle releases and third-party tools.
  • Knowledge of Oracle data integrity enforcement, performance tuning, and RDBMS administration.

Mechanical & Electrical Systems Coordination:

  • Assess physical site infrastructure including power, cooling, cabling, and mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to align IT and facility requirements.
  • Support planning, procurement, and maintenance of critical infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of data center construction, raised floors, surveillance, UPS, generators, AVR, HVAC, FM200, EMS monitoring, and TIA-942 standards.

Solution Design & Implementation:

  • Develop technical designs, drawings, and documentation based on client needs.
  • Coordinate deployment, testing, and support phases of implementation.
  • Prepare layout maps and visual plans as per project requirements.

Communication & Reporting:

  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Produce detailed reports, progress updates, and presentations for stakeholders.

Additional Skills:

  • Design and deploy enterprise solutions across IT, network, database, and electromechanical domains.
  • Analyze and recommend tools, products, and strategies to meet business goals.
  • Prepare technical reports, documentation, and training materials.
  • Expertise in Oracle backup, recovery, and performance tuning.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree and professional certifications are an advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant technical experience.
  • At least 3 years in a leadership or technical lead role.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge in networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls, routing/switching).
  • Proficiency in systems administration (Windows, Linux, Solaris, Active Directory, virtualization).
  • Experience with RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL), tuning, and backup.
  • Understanding of electromechanical systems in IT environments.
  • Familiarity with automation, scripting, and monitoring tools.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail with excellent documentation and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel regularly for client engagement and project execution.

Preferred Certifications:

  • CCNA / CCNP
  • MCSA / MCSE or Linux+
  • PMP or ITIL
  • Oracle or Microsoft Certified DBA
  • AutoCAD or similar tools (for drafting)

Work Environment & Travel:

  • Office-based role with frequent travel to client sites and pre-bid meetings.
  • Site visits may include data centers, electrical/mechanical plant rooms, and construction zones.
