The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) provides a safe and efficient transportation system for the traveling public while promoting economic development and preserving New Mexico's environment. The Procurement Division is responsible to secure the procurement of commodities at the best obtainable price and delivery while maximizing service to our customers both internal and external. The Purchasing Division is able to research, coordinate, and consolidate purchasing requirements and establish Price Agreements/Contracts for G.O. and Districts. Along with, handling the Department's contracts for Information Systems and special projects through the RFP process and contracts for Capital Improvement Projects.
As a valued new employee to NMDOT, you may be eligible to receive three (3) days of administrate leave upon your start date.
This is applicable to external hires not within the State of New Mexico Government.
Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two (2) weeks of the closing date.
Why does the job exist?
The purpose of this position is to facilitate the Procurement process for the New Mexico Department of Transportation Procurement Division. The responsibility includes the audit and approval of purchase orders processed by 6 Districts and the General Office. This position will be the liaisons between NMDOT and General Services and NMDOT and internal programs to assist with the advertisement of Invitations to bid and executed NMDOT price agreements. This is a customer service based position assisting both internal and external customers.
How does it get done?
This position will play an important role in the procurement for the Procurement Division of the New Mexico Department of Transportation. The ability to articulate the appropriate verbiage to procure Invitations to Bid (ITB's), Statewide Price Agreements (SWPA's), and Request for Proposals (RFP's) are crucial. This position will communicate with multiple individuals to ensure all procurement is processed correctly and timely. The knowledge of the procurement code will be essential to this position and will be applied to all aspects of the procurement process to include the audit and approval of purchase orders.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting and Finance and two (2) years of experience in accounting, finance, purchasing, procurement, and/or warehouse clerking. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Business Reference check and Driver's License verification are required, and employment is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
